How to Get There
Just got back from our trip to Monterey California. Stayed at Portola Hotel and Spa. First nights room was not what we expected so requested a room change and the front desk clerk Alicia helped us immediately. She gave us an amazing room with partial water views. They helped us change rooms no questions asked. We loved the room and staff so will definitely go back to this hotel.
We stayed here during our trip to the US, we were a party of 3 couples. We had high expectations of the hotel however upon arrival were shocked to find that the hotel was literally full of over seventies as a jazz convention was being held that weekend! It was like stepping into a Saga holiday! The hotel was also a lot bigger than expected and whilst pleasant was a bit tatty for what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. We had a big stain on our carpet and the furniture and paint on the walls were chipped in places. There is a lack of plug sockets near the bed which was a pain. That said, the rooms were a good size with nice shutters and a comfortable bed and had there not been the clientele of almost entirely over 70s it probably would have been a nice experience!
We stayed for a two night weekend in March. The room is slightly dated, but comfortable and adequate. The bed felt great. Good Kurig coffee maker with a nice selection of coffee. Large tiled walk in shower with good lighting. Parking is $21, kind of expensive. Pool is clean and the large hot tub has the temperature right on at 102 degrees. Pool towels are large and really nice, with a great supply. We enjoyed running the coastal trail from the hotel and watching the sea life near the wharf.
First, the staff at this hotel was great across the board! The location is fantastic- easy walk to so many things. And the hotel itself has many amenities (bar, restaurants, room service, pool, spa). Our room was large and had a balcony, but the "harborview" is a bit misleading as you had to stand in one part of the balcony to see the harbor. The lobby has recently been remodeled, and I hope they'll update the rooms soon as well. There was a distinct shortage of convenient outlets and the thermostat (for heating) was so far off that we turned it off! Additionally, we kept getting kicked off the wifi (pet peeve). We had two weird things happen. First, housekeeping knocked some of our things on to the floor, unplugged lamps and didn't refresh the coffee station. Second, we ordered a bottle of wine from room service for Valentine's Day and the server asked me if I was alone when he delivered it. My husband (who was out of sight) and I both felt very uncomfortable about this.
I just got back from an amazing weekend getaway/ proposal. Hands down Naiomi Skiles made it all happen. I am very impressed with the service and sanctification i received. My room was beautiufky decorates and the food was amazing. Every need was taken care of by Naiomi .
