Pleasant one night stay
Reviewed 2 days ago

We stopped here for one night on our trip from San Francisco to visit Monterey and Carmel .the hotel was situated just off the main motorway so was easy to find . Plenty of parking but very busy . We were treated well at reception and were allocated a ground floor room in the first block next to the main reception . The room was clean and comfortable . We didn't use the air conditioning as it wasn't very warm .very English like temperature. We wandered around the hotel s main area and it all was clean and well maintained . The hotel seemed to be very busy with families so the pool was a little crowded . We ate in the sports bar and this was the most reasonably priced meal we'd had during our two weeks in California .portion sizes were huge compared to English standards . Me and my daughter really could have shared . But then we found the portion sizes everywhere during our trip huge ,not quite sure why they have to be so big. The staff in the bar were really friendly and service was efficient despite them obviously being extremely busy . The only downside to this hotel is the cost of a nights stay . It was so expensive for what it was. All in all a good choice hotel

Don’t stay here

This is hotel is not like other Hyatt hotels I am accustomed to, it is more comparable to a motel. Everything in the rooms needs to be updated. The curtains are from the 80's, the furniture is old and there is no central air. The one nice sit down restaurant at the hotel was not taking any customers because they had booked too many large groups; yet the restaurant was only at 25% capacity all night. Although I requested a crib with my reservation and again after checking in, I did not get anything until I called again after waiting two hours. I was brought a very worn pack and play. Every other Hyatt Regency property I had stayed at has brought a mini crib. The pictures do not accurately reflect the condition of the property. The property needs work. This hotel is over priced for what it is. You definitely do not get what you pay for. I always stay at Hyatt properties when I travel but will not be staying here again, customer service and the property need improvement.

Nice, clean hotel, but definitely 3 star and not 4 star rooms

I can only comment on the rooms and parking as only really used the hotel as a place to sleep whilst we explored the wonderful Monterey area.
Our room was spacious, clean and nicely furnished with a large comfy bed. The bathroom was well equipped, furnished and the walk in shower/wet area was lovely. However, the room furnishings were definitely more of a 3 star standard than 4 star, as was the elevators and corridors. The hotel advertises itself upscale, which it is not. It is clean, comfortable, well furnished with plenty of eating options. I would say it was family friendly. There was a very convenient place to get great coffees and teas to go.
We did sometimes struggle to find car parking spaces and we saw many people just using the disabled bays. Check in and in-room check out all ran smoothly. Although we only had minimal with the staff, they were pleasant and helpful.
The location is OK, but, it is not in the center of Monterey or near the coast, so be prepared to drive if you want to explore Monterey.

Motel disguised as a Hyatt Regency...

This is an old, out-of date property. Stayed in building 25 which backed on to the 101 freeway. Paper-thin walls, portable fan in corner of room, double beds, zero counter space in bathroom. Not a very good sleep or experience.
They should not be calling this property a Hyatt Regency as it is really a motel style. I don't mind staying in a motel, but then I know what I am getting. And they should not be charging $300+ per night for this property.
Not a good location if you are staying in Monterey. Better option to stay at Marriott downtown or Hilton Garden Inn down the road.
Rated this as 2 instead of 1 as they did have free parking - which motels offer...

Not worth your stay

This hotel was more like a motel than a hotel. The fitness center was located in a basement far from the main hotel. There was no spa for a spa hotel. The rooms were very worn. Carpet was frayed. Coming back in the evening there was no parking spaces near your room. They were doing construction directly across from our room starting at 7am. This was not worth the money for this hotel.
