Bridal shower gone wrong...
Reviewed 7 hours ago

I am very disappointed with the Hyatt in Monterey. BEWARE they lie about room size to get bookings then give you something else.

I wanted to schedule a small “bridal shower” get together before my friends wedding, so i called theHyatt telephone number. I specifically asked the reservation agent for 2 queen beds so that three gal friends could stay there. I also asked for a room w a view. So this women booked me with a pool view. I asked her about booking appointments at the spa, and she referred me to call into the telephone number again. She took my reservation and was done. I called in for spa and no one answered and i kept getting hang ups. Finally i reached the front desk and they told md the spa was in renovation. But it was too late for me to cancel as all the 2 queens at other hotels were booked.

When i got to the hotel with my friends, we discover its two DOUBLE beds and they had ZERO rooms with two queen beds. So the women on the phone lied to me. The hotel manager or whomever said they did not believe me and were “inclined not to give me” any break on a price for inconvenience. I mean this cheap hotel didnt even offer to give us free drinks or a free coffee. The guy just said he was “not inclined” and that was that. Not even a “sorry” and the bridal party heard the whole thing. I felt like I had gotten scammed. They tell you they are giving you one type of room but really they lie to get the booking. BEWARE!!! There are many nice hotels in Monterey. Avoid this one as they aren’t guest friendly.

Comfortable convenient

Comfortable, clean and affordable. Traveling for work alone- I ’m always concerned about feeling safe. I felt very safe here and would definitely stay here again. The complex is definitely larger than I anticipated but once I located my correct wing and level, it was easy to remember after the initial trek to locate my room.

Not the Spa/“Resort” vacation you expected...
Reviewed 3 days ago

(Cue music from SNL “Two wild and crazy guys”...) The children and I thought we would spend a nice Easter weekend on the NorCal coast, check out the aquarium. As we approached the Hyatt Spa and Golf Course Resort Monterey, I was looking far and wide for Mr. and Mrs. Roper. Lounge music and vibe in the lobby/restaurant seemed to indicate their imminent approach. Pleasant staff could not outweigh the dated, sad appearance.

We found our building on the 20 acre complex, drove up to it and parked as if we were arriving at a motel. We ascended the elevator, lugging our own bags, and my youngest daughter quoted “cold, sad, and old”. Pretty much sums it up. Popcorn ceilings (yes, that is a spider crawling on the ceiling), window unit air conditioning. Beds so tightly-packed in the room you cannot walk around them, depressing vibe. The “large“ pool, was not indeed that. Lunch: mushy consistency fried calamari? Bad idea.

Unless you’re a total golf freak, and want to leave your family in the “cold, sad and old” and facilities, no reason to visit this place. I’m sure it was all the rage 40 years ago…

Irony: we had just driven south from the “Hyatt Place” Santa Cruz, a beautiful oasis of modernity, boardwalk convenience, security, spacious rooms, excellent service, valet parking, cleanliness, and pure joy, all under the branding of their “Hyatt express“ motel brand. Looks like the motel out-ranks the hotel and “spa”.

Dark and Dingy

Changing the bathroom door from a regular door to a sliding barn door style is not what I would consider anupgrade worth mentioning especially when the door handle falls off of the door. Brightening up your rooms would go a long way to making our stay more comfortable and enjoyable.

1st time to stay at this hotel
Reviewed 6 days ago

1st time to stay at this hotel, the staff was nice, food was descent. The restroom should have a lock. The shower should be able to fully covered while showering as opposed to the half glass shower cover.
My family found a piece of personal clothing belonging to a previous guest on the carpet which was a bit disturbing. Otherwise, nice hotel, comfortable, convenient.
