How to Get There
Monterey is a natural startingpoint down highway 1 and we wanted a Nice hotel to get a good start.
We had 2 rooms; a kingsize bed, and 2 Queen beds.
The room with 2 queens (nr. 133) was Nice size and had good fresh air. Also quiet area of the hotell, at the fare end of the property.
But the room with the kingsize (nr. 132) smeld like muld and had heavy moist air. We did not bother as We only had 1 night, but when Checking out i told the lady at the reception to make her aware and with the hope to get a proffesional response. She only Sad "OK". What about an apology? Or a follow question? Really felt like she didn't take me serious at all...
With the price also i to consideration i'm sure you can get better rooms and service in Monterey.
What a gem. The recently updated rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable. This hotel is dog friendly. The restaurant Estéban even has a Puppy Menu, prepared by Chef Gus, and created and approved by his rescue dogs... and approved by my little pup — she enjoyed a bone with marrow. It was her #BestPuppyVacationMealEVER. And we humans were treated to several meals, created by Chef Gus. with seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients. Richard took care of us in the dining room, recommending dishes and creating perfect wine pairings. The hotel property is beautifully landscaped. We requested & received a room with a small refrigerator. There is a heated pool and phenomenal spa on property. The hotel is minutes away from Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail, Moss Landing and Elkhorn Slough and Kayaking hosted by Monterey Bay Kayaks (love them).
We have stayed on so many occasions we love it here!!!!! Our pets are welcome and the grounds are really nice and the pool is wonderful!!!!!! The onsite restaurant is really nice great food and great service!!!!!! The staff is always wonderful!!!! Relaxing, beautiful and an onsite spa center to die for the couples massage was very nice and then we got to go outside and relax in a private juccuzzi with waterfalls ahhhhhh!!!!!
We picked Casa further to annoyance with chain hotels and based on the positive reviews on Tripadvisor - we were NOT disappointed. Location was a nice happy medium; 5 mins to historic San Carlos mission/Cathedral, 5 mins to Alvarado St (variety restaurants), and 10 mins away from Fisherman's Wharf (seafood and attractions aplenty!). It's also a bit outside the fray of tourism central and close to two gas stations, each with a little market for beer, wine, and snacks, and a great Denny's! Staff was great and parking is off the street and felt protected inside the little old Spanish style compound ($16/night is not great but seems "market" rate). Room was clean and comfy and bed was fine. We're not big resort folks and don't spend much time at the hotel when we travel so just fine. Too far to drive to the aquarium but you can uber or drive there and park (for $18/day!). Enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to other travelers, family or other.
We stayed in the King Dlx w/fireplace and it was dreamy. The bed is beyond comfortable. The trip was a surprise stay for my husband to celebrate our 24yr Anniversary. The staff was so accommodating to decorate the room with some items I had delivered there. So when we walked in, it was absolutely beautiful. Thank again to the staff.
