Rainbow Ranch Lodge
What We Love
- Living A River Runs Through It fantasies casting into the stocked fly-fishing pond
- A corral with knowledgeable wranglers and miles of horse trails to explore
- Great restaurant in new main lodge
What To Know
- The spa has a great staff, but it’s a one-roomer and can pick up some noise from the road
- It’s best to rent a car, as the lodge is fairly isolated
- Call ahead to schedule snowmobiling, skiing, horseback riding, rafting or fishing trips after you book your stay
- This isn’t the place for those who require constant entertainment
- Free WiFi

How to Get There
Not an easy place to locate at night, but even though we arrived late after the office was closed, we found an envelope with our name and one of the lodge employees who was leaving for the night gave us some assistance. The room was spacious and comfortable, and allowed our teenager to have his own room. Did not get clean coffee cups for day two, but they also allowed us to check out earlier than planned without a charge. Overall a very nice stay- and don't miss the restaurant! Creative and delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere.
We spent three nights here while skiing at Big Sky and it was perfect for three adults and a dog. Our room (Big Horn) was actually two rooms with a bath and closet in between, and a door for privacy, plus a balcony overlooking the river. The hot tub is an infinity pool large enough for several couples to enjoy without feeling crowded. The lodge provides a full, hot breakfast that was pretty good (aside from the glutinous oatmeal). If you're lucky, you'll get biscuits and whiskey gravy made with both sausage and bacon. One tip: If you're in a front-side room as we were, put the heaviest sleepers in the bedroom facing the road. Truckers seem to have no compunction about hitting their air brakes at 3 a.m. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay.
A welcoming, really elegant Lodge. Too good to call it a motel. Beautiful blond wood construction, cozy rooms, a great lodge. While my family skied at Big Sky, I had the chance to immerse myself in the Lodge and its offerings. A nice complimentary breakfast (biscuits and gravy the best I've had), and all day coffee bar. The Hot tub was right around the corner from our room. Attractive and a fireplace to boot. Taylor and Kelsey kept the friendly attention coming. At night, the landscape was attractively lit, showing off the trees and grounds. The best restaurant in the area, too. A wonderful stay. We hope to be back!
Wonderful getaway on the banks of the Gallatin river. The hottub was a bit of a walk, but was designed to be like an infinty pool. The water is constantly fresh. Excellent views from hot tub. We had a fireplace, but the wood was too green to burn. We ate mushroom brushetta in the bar. It was fantastic! The happy hour was a great value. Lots on interesting items on the menu.
In search of great snow we decided on Big Sky, Montana and booked Rainbow Ranch Lodge a few days before traveling. What a jewel of a resort RRL was for our 6 night vacation. The staff was very friendly. Our room, "Prairie Dog" was extremely cozy, clean and offered all the conveniences, even a fireplace. We had a delicious dinner in the lodge's restaurant on our first night. This is not just a place to have a meal but to enjoy a dining experience. Rainbow Ranch Lodge sits on a beautiful piece of property near the river. It was a winter wonderland and can only imagine how gorgeous it is during the spring and summer. We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Rainbow Ranch Lodge!
