How to Get There
This was our second stay at the Westin over the past six years and it was a treat
to return to this fine facility. The hotel is classy, up to date with fine dining and comfortable, clean rooms. The room price does fluctuate with the season and is higher during the summer due to vacations and/or the Cardinals playing at home.
However, lower rates may be had during other times of the year, with bargain rates in the winter.
Fantastic, clean, and great location. I don’t know if they offer food at the restaurant on a regular basis, when I checked in I got absolutely no information. I think there is something still under construction though. Rooms very large and clean. Can’t beat the location if you’re a baseball or hockey fan.
ROOMS: I was told by the front desk that all rooms were recently remodeled. My room was modern, stylish, and clean, they did a nice job with the remodel. Typical super-comfortable Westin beds. The room over all and the bathroom was huge. 2 relatively minor criticisms that are not significant enough to stop me from staying here next time – 1) Room lighting – there is not enough lighting for a room this large. There was a desk lamp, a floor lamp, some small lights over the bed, and a light on the nightstand that was pointed downward so that it does not emit much light. The room ends up being quite dark at night if there is no natural light coming in from the window. 2) Work Area – there is not a true office desk in the room – it is sort of a round dining table that gets slid under another higher desk. Both the table and the desk sit up higher than a standard keyboard height. Given that there is not an adjustable office chair – I had to sit on pillows to get elevated enough to type comfortably. On the plus side, there are plenty of USB ports and outlets. The TV is great and the location and layout of the hotel make it really quiet.
DINING: Was given tickets to the breakfast buffet in the Quattro restaurant. Really high quality breakfast with lots of fruit, meat, and cereal options.
SERVICE: Typical, outstanding Westin service. Front desk, valet, restaurant staff, bar staff were all extra courteous and professional.
PARKING: I used the self parking option at $30/day. The parking lot is across the street and easily accessible.
LOCATION: Good central location within walking distance to anywhere downtown. 1 block from Busch stadium, there was not a game going on during my stay so I did not get a sense of how the hectic atmosphere of a game affects the stay here. I have stayed at other downtown hotels where a Cardinal game can mean a 20 minute wait for an elevator.
AMENITIES: Well stocked and well maintained fitness facility with dumbells and cardio machines.
I chose the Westin because it's right next to the Busch Stadium, one can walk to a Cardinals game and feel good about getting drunk. Upon check-in my Ambassador status was quickly recognized and I was given breakfast coupons and drink coupons and late checkout and a thank you for being there. It was great. No prompting anything, possibly one of the best check-in experiences I've ever had at a Westin with information on parking and what would even be served at breakfast. I proceeded to grab a few drinks from the bar which were great, though the bar was quiet since there was no game that night.
The room was enormous, we had an amazing view of the stadium up on the top floor and the bathroom was glorious. Huge shower, huge tub, huge space. Everything was newly renovated and the beds were so comfortable. The hallway and elevator to the room seemed quite awkward, but not a big deal. This is still not a Ritz Carlton - but it's a damn good Westin.
The breakfast (complimentary at Platinum and above) was good, just not great. It was a buffet style with oatmeal and a solid fruit selection with great berries, but the waffles and eggs weren't excellent. No big deal though, because we got what we needed and paid nothing for it.
We checked out at 4pm with nobody bothering us for the day and everything during our stay went well. Saw a Cardinals game and had a great time. I'd definitely stay here again. Love the staff and the rooms. Great experience!
We chose the Westin while attending a St. Louis Cardinals ballgame. It was perfect, right across the street from the stadium. The hotel is modern and well done. They gave us complimentary vouchers for breakfast, and the breakfast was very good with a good selection. The bar was welcoming, although we did not go to the bar.
The beds were comfortable and they told us our room had recently been updated. It's a little pricey, but it was worth it for what we were looking for.
