How to Get There
River City is the complete deal. The hotel is very nice. Our rooms were large and comfortable with a good bed and great shower. The elevator only stops on your floor which doesn't work so well all of the time. Which means getting multiple new keys on your visit. Still well appointed rooms with great housekeeping. Very clean.
The casino has everything and generally plenty of tables open although often there were several empty tables because the limits were too high. So almost everyone is playing at the lower limit table while the higher limit tables are empty.
The restaurants and bars are solid. Good coffee in the morning. The Italian place was mediocre but the others have good menus and every part of this property had great service.
Traveled to this casino/hotel on a VIP getaway. I am so impressed with this place. Hotel rooms are beautiful. My room had a comfy king-size bed, an armoire w/2 mirrored doors that contained a fridge, safe, iron & ironing board, a working desk w/plugs & usb ports for internet access, a 42" TV in a gilded frame on the wall in front of the bed, a single cup coffee maker w/coffee & condiments, and a velvet-like covered sitting chair. The bathroom was pretty impressive also with a huge stand-alone shower w/a rain showerhead (no bathtub) and a TV in the bathroom mirror. There was a separate door for privacy when using the toilet. You will not be disappointed if you stay here.
Was greeted and taken care of by the nicest bell-man, Rod. Got early check-in, great room with comfy & clean bed. GREAT food at the buffet! Casino was a bit smoky, but there was a non-smokers section!
The hotel is extremely nice and clean. The bathrooms are definitely some of the nicest we’ve seen and the staff is very friendly.
We ate at both the beer house and the steakhouse. Both were excellent. My husband is gluten free and they had options at both restaurants.
The casino was also very clean, but many of the slots were older style games. Steve the bartender definitely goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. Overall this is one of the nicest places we have stayed.
We booked months in advance to stay here on our Route 66 adventure. We enjoy a gamble and the buzz these types of resorts have. I received an email a week in advance, apologising, explaining her approach, that the hotel had overbooked and that they would move us to a Holiday Inn Express nearby, and compensate us with free this and that.
I basically said thank you, but no thank you. They still went ahead and cancelled my booking.
I am afraid I respectfully declined their freebies and said we would make our own alternative arrangements.
Honest - maybe! But to treat overseas guests who booked months in advance like this is frankly disgraceful.
