How to Get There
Great location, and the staff that we interacted with were wonderful. The room was well appointed and clean. Overall, the hotel is very good. The poor review is because of the events at the hotel. The claim is, one of the best pools in the Plaza area. It is very nice but not very big (12x36ish) which is to be understood because it is on a roof. The main reason we choose this hotel was the pool.
The pool is on the west side, so no direct sun until mid-day, not an issue, but a note if you are going for the pool and sun time.
When we booked we had seen that a party was planned for Friday night, not on the hotel website, but on Facebook. When we arrived we asked the pool hours and we were told 8:30a-11:00p. The sign at the pool states open at 8:00a and a person from the restaurant was telling people it opened at 9:00a. Not sure when the pool opens and neither is the hotel, lets just say sometime in the morning.
We changed our plans because no sun and not open. We went to the plaza with the intentions to return later in the day to cool off in the pool. We arrive at the pool at 3pm and find it wall to wall people. With very little room to stand in the center. There were no chairs or loungers to use, and not many around the pool to use. We left and came back an hour later and found some people had left so we squeezed our way into a spot around the edge to relax. What we found out was that the hotel rents out the pool and during Saturday there two separate parties that had rented the area. One was a bachelorette (?) party and it was very loud and raunchy at times. After a couple of hours we had to leave the area. It was too much. Very disappointing.
Very clean but was surprised to find that the staff didn't check the coffee maker for used pods. Made me wonder what else was missed that I couldn't see.
Over all very good, but not forthcoming with info about the parties. During check in, there was a line and one lady working her tail off to help people, the other was too busy texting to bother helping guests check in. We were told to keep our keys on us at all time because of security. The only place we used our key was our room. It was not needed to enter nor for the elevator. It was a great joke for us during our visit.
The diamonds of the group. These men were OUTSTANDING and really set the tone for the visit, but the rest of the team dropped the ball. What a great group!
When we checked out, I did tell the lady at the front desk about the pool issue and she did give us our parking for free and she was very nice and apologetic about our stay.
Overall, a nice place. Based on our visit, I feel the value was not worth what we received. If you are going for the pool, ask questions first. I hate to give it a "2" but our reason for choosing the hotel was the pool.
This is one of my favourite hotels in the world now. I can’t fault it. The lobby is fresh and clean, the staff so friendly, even at 5:45 am when we had to check out. The hotel is quiet, there’s a small pool on the roof which was perfect for a dip on a hot day. The beds are incredibly comfortable. The bathroom is clean, spacious and light with a huge shower. There was live music in the bar and a great, relaxed atmosphere. The highlight is the Tesla shuttle, which is basically a glorious service where they will drive you anywhere within 4 miles and pick you up if they are available. We used the shuttle a lot - it took us to the Blue Room, the museums, the Sprint centre. We probably saved a lot of money on Ubers and we always arrived in style!
My husband and I had a kid free weekend and also were celebrating my bday a week late and wanted the best hotel in the area. I scoured reviews and the Fontaine seemed like it would be the best. I should note that I am a very frugal mom and like to get the most for my money and I am also somewhat picky and complainy( I also like to make up my own words to describe myself lol). From the moment we arrived until we left, everything was absolutely perfect. . The complimentary ride in the Tesla was awesome. I didn’t really want to spend the extra money on the mini bar BUT I must admit that was the best $4.00 I have spent on 20 chips, they were really good. The rooftop pool and the lounge area were super relaxing. We loved that there was a movie playing at dusk, that was a bonus. Every single employee we encountered was cheerful and accommodating, you could tell they enjoyed their job. And the breakfast in the morning was AMAZING!!! I mean, even the eggs, I have never in my life gotten perfectly cooked over-medium eggs or had them taste that good. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. It’s also within walking distance to a great shopping area and high end restaurants. Also, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. I could go on and on about how much I loved it here!!!
