Other amenities /notes:
- Our first room reeked of smoke. We called down to the front desk and they were able to switch us to another room down the hallway. However, no one investigated the smoke smell in the room because when we changed rooms, we left the door open to the smoky room because the front desk said that someone would go up to check it out and we left the door unlocked for them. The next morning, the door was still unlocked and we went in to find that the smoke smell was still there, but not as strong.
The pool area is very nice and expansive -- towels are available at the pool. It is unheated, but you can start out in the hot tub and there is a connecting pool passageway that goes from the indoors to the outdoors.
This place is a huge convention hotel with a nice gym and a big lobby. It is connected to the Crown Center by indoor vestibule passageways so you never have to step outside if you don’t want to.
Bottom line: this is a great location next to the Crown Center and a good base for a visit to Kansas City as it is easily connected to the public buses (a 5-10 minute walk to the bus stops), it is near the train station and a short 15 minute walk up the hill to the World War II museum. Additionally, it has a convenient shuttle service within a mile or two radius and we used it to go to a popular brunch place. We had a pleasant stay (despite the first smokey room) and would stay here again. We recommend this property.
This was my first time in KC and really enjoyed my time here (for business). I stayed on a high floor, upgraded to a junior suite and had fabulous views of KC. The hotel staff was very friendly and amenable, the room was spacious and comfy, and the bed/pillows were just perfect. I was able to walk to many places and an easy Uber ride was a few minutes wait. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anybody.
I stay at hotels over 100 nights per year and have never had a key problem like I had at this hotel. I have 1,500 hotel nights in the last ten years. I stayed on the 37th floor and had to go to the desk three times in one day because my key would not open my door. This is ridiculous!!! I asked to speak to the hotel manager and he told me it was my fault because I put it by my cell phone. The manager's name is Ben and I did not put my key near my cell phone. I highly recommend that you don't stay at this hotel.
Convenient location to Crown Center and Union Station. Helpful staff. Very clean rooms. The $5 food voucher per day of refusing fresh towels/room service is a great deal! Bonus: great view of the KC fireworks from my room.
I have stayed at the Sheraton at Crown Center on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. I was recently there for a week while on business, and the quality of the rooms and service continue to impress.
The only slight negative with my last stay was when I tried to check in (I was sharing a room with a colleague and we had reserved a room with 2 double beds) I was told that they did not have a room with 2 beds and they had changed us to a room with 1 king. I explained that this was not acceptable, and the person told me that the hotel was full and that this was all he had. When I expressed (a little more strongly) that this was not OK, a manager came over and quickly found me a room with 2 double beds. Other than that bump in the road, everything was great.
