How to Get There
Hotel has a lot of character and fun Art Deco details but room was very small, the bathroom was literally a foot from the side of the bed, and the room was pretty dirty. The bar in the basement had great drinks.
this was probably the best designed standard room I have ever slept in. spacious. comfortable bed. nice sitting area. two windows. attractive. big shower. would definitely stay here again. the staff was exceptional also.
We had a number of issues withe the hotel. Upon arrival all three elevators were down. We had to walk up 8 flights of (very hot) stairs. The kind bellhop offered to carry our bags up at least. When we arrived to our room the air conditioning was working poorly, set at 65 but over 80 in the room. We asked then to work on it while we were out for the afternoon. When we returned in the evening, it was still about 15 degrees above the set temp. I asked the front desk if it had been addressed, but they said no one came to inspect it. Maintenance was sent up promptly, and after a few minutes said it was fixed. We had the AC set at the lowest temperature, but still woke up sweaty and in the high 70s. After a visit to the front desk the very helpful manager (im sorry i dont remember his name) immediately put us in a new room that was much better.
Overall, we thought the hotel was very nice and the location was great, but our first day/night there was very disappointing. Any updates or feedback on the issues we had at the hotel would be very helpful!
We booked hotel Phillips well in advance and we are so happy with that decision. What a beautiful historic hotel. We were so warmly greeted by Michelle. She made us feel like we walked into a friends home. We were checked in right away and given room 1405. Beautiful corner room o en looking 12th. Beautiful simple decor and plenty of accessible outlets to charge electronics. Comfortable king bed, we slept wonderfully. This is our new KC hotel anytime we are here.
Hotel philip is walkable to several downtown attractions, resturants, the Alamo Movie Theater, plus they have shuttle. It's a well preserved gem from the prohibition era, tastefully decorated, lovingly maintained.
