Super Neat place to Go ! Crab legs on Saturday night

My husband and I were in KC for a Truck Show and saw this Casino had crab legs on Saturday nights! I walked in and straight to the gift shop I went, found the cutest turtle bracelet! Then we went and got our player cards, got $5 free play , and a small discount on buffet. We spent a couple hours there ! The food was good, service lacked a little, I think it is $39 for the crab leg buffet, but around here u can rarely find all you can eat anymore. There are so many shops and it is a awesome & beautiful place! Highly recommended seeing it!!

Husband’s Birthday Trip to KC

We loved this stay!! We were upgraded to a Suite for my husband’s 60th BDay!! Check In was quick and we were allowed to check in a hour early. We went to the Country Club Plaza for dinner at McCormack’s and Schmick’s and the service/food was excellent!! Wine tasing at Cooper Hawk’s and shopping was a nice treat! The Casino was clean and food/drink options were good.

It is truly sad to see how far this place has declined. Most locals had hope that a new owner (Boyd Gaming) would put some much needed attention to the property after years of neglect from Pinnacle. Sadly, that has not occurred and service has declined drastically along with multiple closures of restaurants and hundreds more machines being removed from the casino. This review will focus on the state of the hotel, I will post an update on the other places under the casino profile here.

Ameristar's hotel was built with the original property in the late 90's and despite a pledge in 2009 to expand and renovate, the hotel has not been touched since 2004, 15 years ago. The normal renovation life cycle of hotels is 6-9 years, Ameristar is double that already. Rooms are extremely outdated, with ripped & stained carpets. The original plasma tv's were replaced with energy saving lcd's that constantly change brightness (even when rooms brightness has not changed) making it difficult to watch. Furniture is scratched up, and usually the tops are covered with filth. Some rooms have a single lamp, with them having removed all the table lights and the corner lamp is usually broken and removed. Refrigerators dont really work well, with the one I had last week not working at all (something I told them about over 2 months ago when I last had that room, but as usual, no one cared enough to fix it). Bathrooms are atrocious with black mold on the walls and the bottom of the shower curtains crusty with mold and debris. Sinks often have very slow drains, and if you leave the stopper up, prepare to have your room filled with sewer smells. Linens, while nice on the beds, are often stained, especially the bath towels. I could go on but I think you get the point by now. All that said, the issue here is service, or lack thereof.

Week after week, guests are made to wait hours after "official" check in to get their rooms. They always say the will call when its ready, but I have never gotten a call. Today I have been waiting 2.5 hours already and all I get from the front desk is "we have no idea when it will be ready, they haven't even started on it". No apology, no attempt to have housekeeping prioritize it for a guest already waiting several hours, nothing. Most hotels, when a guest is on property and waiting will prioritize the room, not here....they simply don't care. So here I sit out in my car in the rain, wondering if I will even get a room tonight, or when I will be able to even get to sleep. Such a great customer experience when I have to be up at 4 next morning. This apathy towards guests abounds. It always takes 2-3 hours and 2-3 phone calls to get anything from housekeeping (like replacing the soiled towels they put in the room as "clean" that day). They claim they inspect rooms, I have watched them do this and it literally takes them 20 seconds, thats it. That explains why the conditions are so bad, why you find urine on the toilet back and running down the front, why the tile floors are covered with spots that a lysol wipe cleans right up. Again, its a complete lack of anyone caring at all levels here, front desk, housekeeping, and obviously management over these areas. Now I'm up to 3 hours after I checked in, still no room, and no ETA. Great way to treat your customers Ameristar.

The included pictures show the stained walls, filthy tubs, torn carpet, filthy curtains, hallway you are greeted with, and the beige chair.....that filthy stain was there for DAYS with countless employees passing it and just leaving it, same with the bench picture, was left filthy like that while many employees just walked right past. Shows how little they care about the condition of the facility or product they are presenting to their customers.
