The hotel staff was great! My room wasn't ready because I arrived early. My original room was being deep cleaned so they upgraded me to a mini suite at no charge. Very nice room and a comfortable bed!

Came to KC for a convention with the wife. Ameristar has this romantic old school quality about it without the cobwebs. The staff are very friendly and the gambling is on two different levels. The mall area for dining has this very realistic looking sky, multiple restaurants including a train car, and a multi colored fountain. The Blackjack tables and the Craps tables are more than I am used to but we still had a blast.

Great place, clean, beautiful, but smoke after several hours was tearing my eyes up! Great restaurants but several of the bars were closed which made it difficult to get beer or drink! Staff was friendly and helpful

Whoaaaaa.... this place is going downhill fast

My husband and I have been coming to this particular location for 10+ years. Casino play -win/lose/draw- aside, I’ve always been somewhat impressed and took solace in the Ameristar brand delivering a clean, comfortable hotel stay. However... this KC location? Wow... over the course the last year or so has really taken a turn for the worse.
Hubs and I found ourselves in KC for the evening last night and decided to stay at Ameristar. Upon entering our room, we were hit with a really strong residual stench of some (I’m guessing pretty cheap) weed. And look, no judgement: I support anyone’s choice to smoke or not, right? I don’t care either way. That said? We always choose non-smoking rooms... always.... one would think a “non-smoking” clause would include marijuana, cigars, pipes, etc. So being hit with that smell upon entering the room wasn’t exactly “pleasant”.
Let me explain why it was bothersome... I’m 98.5% certain it *may have been* the housekeeping staff (my opinion).... why? Because of the lack of standard hotel items missing from our room. No washcloths in the bathroom, no shampoo/conditioner, no coffee & condiments to accompany the coffee maker. WTH? Appeared to be the work of a stoner in my opinion. The vanity is old, dated and visibly worn and is in need of stain or paint. Weirdest thing was the water from the faucet smelled awful! It was a noxious, gaseous landfill-air smell. Needless to say, I used the bottled water to brush my teeth.
Room condition aside, the AC in the hallway was blasting, yet, the temperature outside was in the frigid 20s.
We had some good fun in the casino; however, I didn’t see ONE drink person walking around. Not one. I don’t know if that was because it was Sunday night or what, but normally we’re approached by at least one or two over the course of the 3-4 hours we play.
I don’t know, in summary, I’m always on the fence on casinos in terms of play.... it’s built into the formula that your money will likely land in the hands of the house. That’s okay, I can live with that. But I’d at least like to be entertained and checked on while I’m there. Furthermore, I don’t think it’s outrageous to expect a good night’s stay considering the amount of money that is spent in these facilities. Ameristar KC used to deliver on both but has been slipping for a while. After last nights stay I think they are circling the drain. Really bad stay. Really really bad stay. Honestly I’m a little shocked they’ve let themselves get this far gone.
Cautiously recommend to anyone looking for a clean & comfortable and well stocked stay.

We eloped in Kansas City and decided to go have some fun afterwards at Ameristar Casinio. When we booked a room they upgraded us for free because it was our wedding day! Wonderful service and we had a blast!
