How to Get There
Great place to stay! I loved the stay and certainly the amenities of the 125 year old hotel. Both outside and inside pools for guests to use. Ghost tour was fun also! Close to Kansas City Missouri also!
Very outdated rooms. Short on staff. Snack cafe closes at noon leaving NO options or vending machines for drinks or snacks and no gift shop. For such a historic hotel, there could be a lot of improvements in promoting the historic significance. They dont even sell their Spa robes anymore.
Our trip was suppose to be relaxing but the stay was anything but. The hot tub tiles were falling off, 20 teenagers came to the pool screaming, doing cannon balls into the pool etc., and then 10 came into the hot tub splashing and being extremely disruptive. In the evening there was no entertainment in the community so we relaxed in our very small room. Awaking in the morning ready for a nice shower but wait no hot water.
This was the third time I stayed at the Elms with my family (and 3 dogs) in the last 3 to 4 months. I travel to KC for business and it is a good base of operations for me. Close to everywhere I need to go, but off the beaten path and very relaxing. It is not shiny or brand new, but it is comfortable and like an old friend. Always welcoming and gracious, with a character all its own.
This hotel holds a lot of history...didn’t know it’s story when we booked the room and were delighted to find out that there was such rich background to this place. The lap pool and hot/cold tubs in basement were loved by the whole family. I wish now we knew that there were paranormal tours and we would’ve taken advantage of that as well! Although the parking lot was full we felt
As thought we were the only guests there!
