What Good is a Beach Hotel When the Beach is Closed from Bacteria Levels

The beach is closed due to bacteria levels that can make you sick or cause rashes as of July 7. We came from out of state traveling through and spent several hours in the ocean wondering why it was so deserted. No one told us at the hotel and there were no signs on the beach! We would not have stayed had we known about the health hazard. We’ve already had one ER visit on this vacation and wouldn’t have risked that but didn’t find out til we left. Management had not instructed their employees to inform anyone and there are no signs on the beach or on the doors exiting the hotel. We have called the hotel to request they let their patrons know. When spending more than $300 a night for a room, you expect a better breakfast than the typical hotel breakfast so that was a bit disappointing as well. Yogurt or fruit would have been nice.

The elevator did not work. Our room was on the 8th floor, front desk was on the 3rd floor. Checkin-checkout parking was always full (with employees parking their personal cars). I have 3 children under 9, so the stairs were not fun. There was trash on the beach and in the water. Huge ugly pipes fed out into the surf right next to the beach. Extra linens for the pullout bed were crumpled on the floor of the closet when we arrived. I attempted to call the front desk and got a busy signal, so my husband walked the stairs to talk to front desk about linens and the phone not working. He was told “Oh yeah you shouldn’t trust the phone. They haven’t been reprogrammed. Just dial 0 if you need to reach us.” No where in the room or in the hotel was this written. Bar and restaurant is really just a smoking area that doesn’t serve food or beverage that we could tell, except the mediocre breakfast in the morning. Very disappointed overall. We were stopping in Biloxi for the first time on a road trip to see family in Houston. This place gave us a bad impression of Biloxi and we will be cancelling our reservations at another Biloxi hotel on our way back. Never again.
