How to Get There
South beach suites was a great choice for our family. We were upgraded to a huge 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen. You can walk right out the back door and you are on the beach. I highly recommend for a family.
I was calling to book a room last minute and they got me in with no problem! The staff was friendly, the view was great. Right on the water! Located down the road from Big Play Entertainment where we spent a lot of our trip. The room was big enough to fit me and the 3 friends I brought. Was a great stay and will definitely recommend.
I reserved a room by telephone directly with South Beach. I requested an Ocean Front balcony room. The lady told me the only rooms that had ocean view balconies were two bedroom units with two bathrooms. I think it was the most expensive room available. I also requested the highest floor available.
When I arrived, they assigned me a room on the 5th floor which was OK, however it was not the room I requested nor expected. It had an Ocean View but it was through floor to ceiling glass and no balcony on the ocean side. The balcony was on the east side of the building with a great view of a construction site and even better view of the hot pink Sharkheads Souvenir City. And to make it better, the Hot Pink Sharkheads Neon sign comes on as soon as it gets dark and stays on well into the night. There is also a floodlight lighting the construction area that glares in you eyes when on the balcony.
The next morning i went down for breakfast that was a standard free hotel breakfast. I made a waffle and when I went to get sausage, the pan was empty except for three scraps. I asked one of the ladies working in the dining room if I could get some sausage and she refused, saying it was too close to closing time.
Overall my experience with South Beach was not good. If you must stay there, get a very clear understanding of the room you are paying for and even though the breakfast is served until 9 AM, do not go after 8 AM if you want to get a full selection of items. Be sure to allow plenty of time to wait in the waffle line.
