How to Get There
I am a tour manager for a band for the last 20 years and have booked and stayed in over 1,000 hotels all over the world. This stay was included multiple rooms for a family get together and was the worst experience I have EVER had!
First off, I returned from my overpriced breakfast to a cleaning staff member cleaning my room at 9am when It was obvious I was still there and set to checking out at noon. I had cash and my cell phone and tablet laying around and was not happy about this intrusion on my privacy. (First time I’ve ever had this happen)
Then after being treated very poorly by random staff, I met the man who runs the show... After some time in the very cold pool area, my daughter and I walked to the front desk. As we were standing fully dressed in an area off to the side, the head of staff, very angrily yelled at my daughter and I for not wearing shoes like we were homeless people who just walked into his crappy hotel. My daughter was very frightened and cried her eyes out for 10 minutes because of how scared she was. I myself was very embarrassed in front of my family and friends as this idiot was not discreet in any way. Funny thing how I don’t like to put shoes and socks when I go to the pool area. The best part was about two seconds after the public scolding a frickin Dog walked by unleashed! So, loose dogs walking around with piss on their feet are ok. But don’t go to the pool without shoes? Again, I have never been treated so poorly while spending the kind of money I did for 2 nights(5 rooms). I would never stay at this hotel again, even if it was free!! Any random motel 6 would treat you better than I was!
We got to the hotel earlier than planned so we asked what time a room might be ready. We were told that they could get us in early. An unexpected bonus that allowed us to rest before our evening activities. The receptionist went out of her way to be welcoming and accommodating. The room was spacious, clean & inviting. Our experience reinforced our decision to seek out the Sheraton chain again.
Being a SPG gold I was upgraded to the club floor and had access to a lounge that had water, sodas, fruits and other quick bites.
Rooms were OK, cleanliness could be better. Some rooms do Not have windows with outside view but Lobby view (odd). The pool is situated inside the Lobby, so you have some odors from it (odd bis).
Service was ok, I was granted a late checkout because of my elite membership.
You have a big mall across the highway, but it is walking distance.
Odd odd odd....
My stay was scheduled to be a three week stay for an extended work trip. I lasted 10 days before I checked out and moved to a different hotel.
I stayed in a suite, which had no exterior windows and felt like a cave because I couldn’t open the curtains or anyone walking by would be able to see in. There was a large water stain on the ceiling and the overall condition of the room was slightly rundown. Everything was “ok” until I went to take a shower one day. Housekeeping had just been in the day before and replaced my towels. I grabbed a towel from the cubby and went to hang it next to the shower, only to discover that it had feces smeared all over it. The smell was overpowering and I nearly vomited. The towel had been rolled/folded in such a way that the feces was on the interior of the roll, which is why I didn’t smell it sooner.I put it in a plastic bag and called down to the front desk and requested that a manager come to my room. He came up and I explained the situation, and he just said “Sorry” and that he would look into it. I told him of a couple maintenance issues and he said they would be taken care of. After getting back from work that evening, the maintenance issues were resolved, but I never received any follow up on the poop towel. I checked out the following morning.
I really wish I was kidding about the towel, especially as it would have been impossible for someone to fold it and not notice the smell and excrement all over. That someone would think that it was acceptable for guest use just boggles my mind. I highly suggest staying at a different hotel.
This was our second stay here, so we knew it was good. The room was very clean. The bad news? The tub stopped draining. Then the toilet stopped flushing.
So why do they still get four stars? Because they gave us a good chunk of our money back when it wasn't fixed straight away. Without us asking for it (I only wanted it fixed so I could shower without risking a flood ;)).
To the hotel in general:
Rooms are clean and well appointed.
The lobby area is a great place to hang out - not so much on this trip, but when we stayed here before and had half our family there. I didn't try the bar and restaurant, though.
Service is excellent, especially when things go wrong.
Fruit water in the lobby is always a nice touch.
The layout of the hotel is rather odd.
They have two-tier wi-fi and only the lower tier is free. It's enough for most people, though.
For some bizarre reason they gave us an accessible room. For five nights. Please don't do that, hotels, unless it's literally all you have. It's better to ask if somebody minds two queens instead of a king than put able-bodied people in accessible rooms.
If you are trying to connect to the wi-fi using a phone...the connection manager is not properly optimized for mobile. The login screen is actually off to the right and you have to swipe left to get to it. The darker colored tier is the one you're getting.
Some of the rooms face inside. Ours faced a *corridor*. If that bothers you (for example if not getting light in the morning messes up your sleep), then ask for an outside room.
