The five-star Kempinski Hotel and Residences Palm Jumeirah is one of Dubai’s most palatial and impressive luxury hotels. Completed in 2011, this sprawling stay is imposing and dripping with opulent design – just what you’d expect from a five-star Dubai hotel, and of course, the Kempinski group is known worldwide for its attention to detail and outstanding properties. Set on the curved edge of the man-made Jumeirah Palm island, in one of the finest locations in Dubai, it has a prime waterfront setting and offers a private soft sandy beach and dazzling city skyline views at night.
The ornate architecture is grand and imposing: columns everywhere, as well as domed roofs. The interior design is ultra-luxe, too – we’re talking a full-service spa, a large swimming pool, expansive landscaped gardens, a 1,640-ft. private beach with loungers, a helpful and professional concierge service that can help to organize anything from a newspaper to a chauffeur-driven limousine, a Kempinski kid’s club and an elegant Italian restaurant. And don’t forget the refined bar, where you can sip a fine cognac, smoke a rare cigar in a plush leather armchair and take it all in.
The luxurious Ocean Two Bedroom suites are decorated in cream and chocolate tones with pale wood furnishings. Bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, flocked bedspreads, smooth upholstered headboards, fine-quality textiles, glossy floors, plush rugs and silver lamps and chandeliers (naturally). The living area is decorated in the same style and has a comfortable lounge, dining area, a terrace or balcony with stunning views and, unusually for a suite, a fully equipped kitchen.
The elegant Brunello Italian restaurant is inspired by the grandeur and sophistication of an Italian palazzo. This highly stylized look means the restaurant comes complete with elegant white columns, ornate ceilings and paneled walls, accented in gold. Also expect beautiful studded-back chairs, crisp white tablecloths and floor-to-ceiling windows, which offer views out to the terrace, gardens and pool area. The chic setting is perfectly suited to complement the authentic Italian dishes on the menu, which are prepared and served with a contemporary twist. A delicious breakfast buffet is also served here each day. The K-West bar is a distinguished room with soft lighting, wood-paneled walls, a studded-leather bar and matching leather stools and armchairs. A thoroughly upmarket affair, it serves coffee, drinks and snacks during the day and cocktails, cognac, whiskey and rare cigars during the evening.
The full-service Cinq Mondes spa offers a wide range of relaxing and healing treatments – everything from Ayurvedic and Balinese massage to a Radiance Scrub or traditional hammam experience. The products used were developed under the supervision of a pharmacy PhD in a Parisian laboratory, and they contain no parabens, silicon, mineral oil or artificial coloring. If you can’t bear to miss out on the gym while you’re away, then the fitness center is fully equipped and has personal trainers on hand.
Dubai is fast becoming one of the most luxurious resorts in the world, with some of the finest hotels ever built, and the Palm Jumeirah has a reputation as being the setting for some of them. With a fabulous location on the outer crescent of the Palm Jumeirah, the Kempinski has more than 20,000 sq. ft. of private grounds, and it’s literally just a few steps to a beach of more than 1,000 ft.With year-round sunshine, Dubai is the perfect location for taking advantage of water parks, world-class golfing, tennis clubs, yachting and designer shopping in dazzling shopping malls, all of which happen to abound. You can even go out into the desert and cruise up and down the sand dunes in a buggy. If you want it, then Dubai probably has it.
How to Get There
The Kempinski Palm Jumeirah is our favourite location when visiting Dubai. Easter 2019 was our third stay at this hotel that offers excellent food and incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Ahmed at the reception desk has become an old friend and fine host.
We spent the day at the pool and had lunch on the restaurant patio. From the moment we arrived the staff were amazing. We felt like they really wanted us there. The venue and facilities were great.
Definitely will ho back
I highly recommend the hotel . excellent service and pleasantness of hotel crew.My kids enjoyed their time with Ms.Nora ,she was adorable and plus she was attentive and entertaining.I appreciate her work.
I’ve written a negative review before down to shocking service and I wanted to take the time out to say that I went back after a long time at the weekend as the W was full and I was in the area. The service wasn’t 10/10 but it had hugely improved down to 1 individual (Yassine) that was excellent. The hotels pool and beach is lovely, the revelation area as you enter though is far too old world and needs a major refurb to its look to compete with the other hotels on the palm.
For a beach day I would rate it 7/10 but if it wasn’t for Yassine I would give it a 5.
Stayed for 4 nights in a 2 be apartment. We had early check in needs and were helped by a great front of house person at 7am ! He found a room, got the kids juice and got us to a bed for needed rest. Room was lovely and big. We asked for a few items for the room and came without issue. View was a shame as it overlooked the building site on the left side of the hotel. But given it was provided to us early we did not mind.
Food and drink is a let down here; expensive and not 5 star service or quality.
The beach was dirty; floating Kempinski water bottles in the sea and labels from those bottles on the sand and in the water. My kids picked them up and took them to the bin; staff did not seem bothered. There is little current on the Palm so I don’t see why the hotel can not make a cleaner beach area and pick up their rubbish from the sea where you are supposed to swim. This was a major let down for a Palm located hotel.
Pool was nice, not too busy and plenty of space and towels. Maintenance was ongoing and there were paint scratchings all over the place left on the pathway to walk on bare feet and also wires and circuit boxes left on the pool side area by the toilets which no one cleaned up despite we making a comment to the pool desk.
I would say this hotel is struggling to be 5 star in a few areas except the rooms that are 5 star. The pool is not up to other standards on the Palm now and the food and beverage is lacking in offer and quality.
Perhaps all the focus is now on the Emerald Palace and the original hotel is for residents now and hence a falling off in the offer.
Overall the room was the saving part of the stay as it was good value for the size on the Palm, but a let down on other areas for a 5 star brand like Kempinski.
I am always very fair with my comments on TripAdvisor and do feel Kempinski need to decide where they want to go with this hotel....residents and deals for larger rooms or proper Dubai Palm resort hotel.
