Excellent Hotel With A Wonderful Location At Detroit Airport

The Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport Hotel is literally connected to Concourse A at the airport. Upon my arrival, I walked down the concourse and went through a door that directly led to the front desk to check-in. You can go through security on the way out to catch your flight.

I was grateful for my upgraded room. Even though there are airplanes all around you, you will barely hear them. I found the room service to be timely but the price a high for you get.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the room. Be sure to check out the robe on the backdoor of the bathroom and relax!

This airport is easy to get around in, has plenty of family bathrooms and is accommodating to handicap. Overall, I'd have to say this is 1 of the easier airports to get around at. Very basic but even staff is friendly and helpful.

WORST SERVICE EVER - Never Experienced Such Bad Service

I booked a room here for 1 night. When my friend checked in before me, they changed the rate I had booked to one that was more than double. I contacted hotel immediately and they said they would adjust the rate back once I showed them my identification.

When I came in that evening to get my hotel key, I showed the gentleman my identification but I was still charged the high rate they changed it to - close to $400 for one night. Even after showing identification, I got back home and the bill was still the double rate they changed it to.

I had to waste time trying to get it fixed. It seemed like this hotel really just wants to jack the rates on people. Multiple phone calls were made to a manger and I had to send pictures of my identification and business card. Finally after about 6 phone calls, the rate was finally fixed to what I booked.

I had to call again for my final bill. A PDF wasn't sent so I left a voicemail with accounting with all my information and said I needed a PDF of the final bill. I never got it. There's an email address for accounting that is on their voicemail and when I sent emails, they bounced back. They need to fix their voicemail message and put the correct email address. So - I never got the final efolio.

These people were almost impossible to deal with. Someone needs to come in and teach these employees some good customer service skills.

I'm Platinum Elite and I really don't appreciate what happened and how I was treated.

My wife and I stayed at the Westin/DTW last year and loved it. So, when I had business in the Detroit area again this year I decided to give it a second chance. I was not disappointed. The location is the reason we picked this establishment in the first place. I dropped my rental car off the night before, took their bus to the Westin and checked in. I paid a little extra for a tarmac view and was not disappointed. The other great thing is that you can obtain a pass to get through TSA security and enter the airport through their lobby to walk the airport and use their shops/restaurants. I had a massage and ate at the Longhorns restaurant. The room was comfortable and the bed was great. I also liked the shower head which was like a rain shower over your head. The front desk staff was very professional and upbeat, everything with a smile and how could they make your stay a little better. We've been here twice and will stay here again in the future.

I have wanted to stay at this hotel for quite some time, but finally had the opportunity to when I came to Detroit for an event and had to leave for Asia early the next morning.

Obviously the location is second-to-none for a transit hotel at DTW, as it is located directly in the McNamara Terminal which primarily serves Delta.

I had to be up early that morning and really wanted to get some rest before my event. I arrived around 1pm and knew that early check-in was not guaranteed. So, when I went to check in, I was not surprised when I was told that my room was not ready.

I was told I would be called when it was ready, and instead of getting some rest, I got something to eat at the on-site restaurant.

At 3pm, I went back to the desk and inquired about my room, as I had not received a call. A new agent was working and was surprised when I told him that I wasn't given a room because "we have a lot of rooms available." I had a club king room and he was able to get me a key within 60 seconds. I have no problem waiting for check-in time if rooms are all truly full, but to make a person wait when rooms are available in inexcusable.

I did not have an opportunity to check-out the club lounge during service hours, but the choices during off hours was abysmal with a few bottles of generic water, soft drinks, and a lonely bag of chips.

The room was completely acceptable, but decidedly not luxury. the bathroom was very small and water pressure was not good. The bed was excellently comfortable.

Unfortunately, if you need an uber or lyft, they will not pick you up at the front of the hotel and instead you have to traipse to the ground transportation center and then down a few levels. not convenient at all.

There is a security check right inside the hotel that leads directly to the McNamara terminal A concourse. Unfortunatley I did not get to try this as my flight left from the North terminal. For, this, I had to take a shuttle from the hotel entrance. The front desk agent who checked me in (the same one that didn't give me an available room), also gave me the wrong times for the shuttle, so I arrived to see it pulling away and had to wait an additional 20 minutes.

Would I stay at this hotel again? Probably not unless it was for the sole purpose of catching a Delta flight from DTW. Even then, if I had time to spare, I'd probably look elsewhere.
