How to Get There
I had anticipated our stay here. When we checked in I was very pleased with the location near Ford Field. The person checking us in gave us no information regarding WiFi (I called down and it was very simple) and when I asked her about if there is a shuttle to the game she knew nothing except one ran up and down the street. She told us where the restaurants were located but didn’t mention that Bistro 555 was closed for a private party. We had selected to eat there and had to decide on other arrangements. We walked to Pegasus Taverna in Greektown which turned out to be a good alternative. The room is nice but for the price point we stayed not as well appointed as I would have expected. The worst part of the stay were the paper thin walls and acoustics. We were up until after 4:30 am with loud guests next door that required a call down to the front desk. We are now up for the game and not refreshed or well rested. A terrible end to a trip we had looked forward to. Other Detroit hotels at this price point provided a much better stay in the past.
Easy parking and accessibility to venue. Rooms were OK, nothing extravagant. We were in a King Corner room with great views of the city. Especially since we were there at the start of the holidays.
Good service. Ordered breakfast to the room which was a 1/2 hr late, but no big deal to us. The hotel is confusing with how it's set up but we figured it out. I don't think I'd stay here again with the other possiblities around the area.
There is nothing better than two free nights at a local luxury hotel, except the fact that there is also a casino attached. From our arrival at the free Hotel valet, we experienced very pleasant personnel. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. The soap, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, was a "blood orange" scent that smelled delicious! Check-in and check-out were a breeze! Bistro 555 had a good breakfast buffet, which included an omelet and waffle station, that was manned by a very good cook. The only problem we encountered here was how long it took to get our coffee, and refills. We also enjoyed some pizza at the Monroe Market, a cupcake at Josephine's, and some ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. The casino is pretty generous with their comps, so very little was spent on the food. It was a nice little vacation!
The hotel is in the heart of Greek town. So many things to do in and outside the hotel. Breakfast at Bistro 555 was all you can eat an elegant setting. Plenty of restaurants inside the hotel in outside surrounding the hotel. One stop shop!
Let's start with the positives; the location to Ford Field and Comerica park is great!! Check in, even though we arrived early( around 9:30am) we did our check in and were assured that we would be called when our room was ready sometime around 4:00pm. They did indeed call at 3:15 letting us know that it was available and that we could pick up our keys in the VIP line when we arrived back to the hotel after the football game. All went extremely smoothly with that process. On the way to our room however we noticed how badly the hallway floor needed vacuumed and there were already room service containers setting outside guests doors. Mind you this was 4:30 in the afternoon, housekeeping should have just finished cleaning. Upon entering our room it appeared clean but the carpet was stained and not vacuumed and the counter top by the coffee service and TV area was grubby looking, although when I tried to wipe it down it did appear clean just again badly stained. We found the hotel to be very noisy compared to other hotels we have visited- room to room noise and corridor noise. Room service was another good surprise, we couldn't decide on where we wanted to go and were not happy with the food court atmosphere of the Monroe Market so we elected to stay in. The meal was very good and didn't take too long to arrive so we were happy with it. The problem lies with the layout of the room, that is no table only a desk in the room so my husband sat there with his dinner while I sat on the bench at the end of the bed using the room service tray as table space. I wish the server would have left the cart in the room to use. The view of the city was great and the service was good. The location is just what we were looking for to attend a Lions game. The cleanliness left much to be desired. The casino was some what generous, no complaints there. Would I stay there again maybe but I think I will try other options first.
