With two golf courses, two pools, even a lazy river ride, this vast Aventura resort is a city unto itself

The Lowdown

It’s a 25-minute drive from South Beach, but there are plenty of amusements right on-site at this vast resort, with two pools (the scenic, heated Cascata has a rushing waterfall, and the family-friendly Laguna boasts a water slide and lazy river ride.)Once guests have worked up an appetite, they can pull up a chair at the poolside Laguna Grill or Latin-inflected Cascata Grill, or get away from the sun at Bourbon Steak, helmed by famed chef Michael Mina.

In the Area

Once a guest leaves the resort, they have three choices: shopping at the Aventura Mall, hitting the beach (the resort’s private beach club is in nearby Sunny Isles, but there’s also South Beach in Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale Beach), or exploring one of the cities within a short drive. That might mean heading to Miami’s artsy Wynwood neighborhood or Fort Lauderdale’s bustling Las Olas Boulevard. And if those destinations don’t prove wild enough, there’s always a private eco-tour of the Everglades.

Stunning resort. Great water park and I love the idea that they deliver food and drinks to your lounge chair by the pool. Although the food was very good, it is a tad expensive. The water park entrance fee is also very expensive.

JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa

JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa is an outstanding Marriott property. Outstanding rooms and property. The Water Park was wonderful until we order lunch and waited an hour to get food that was wrong. In their defense it had just opened in the past few days. We''l give them time to get tit together. We were on a site visit for a future meeting and the conference facilities were great. What we did experience during our site visit with the staff taking care of us, and they did an excellent job, after we were on our own the next few days the service wasn't as good and the food was OK. The Steakhouse was excellent!!!

Tidal Cove Rocks!
Reviewed 3 days ago

I have stayed at this property several times in the past with my family. Every time has been a great experience. However, Tidal Cove has taken this property to a new level! Tidal Cove has taken a great pool experience and has made it a fantastic pool experience that the whole family can enjoy. My kids spend countless hours on the world class slides leaving me and my wife time to relax and enjoy the pool and pool side service. Nothing in South Florida compares!

Best Family Vacation Ever!
Reviewed 5 days ago

We are still thinking about the family vacation we had here a fee weeks ago.
It was so fun! The renovated rooms are spacious and beautiful.
The water park provided endless entertainment for the entire family from babies to grandparents.
We also eat at Corsair and it was delicious.
We hope to make this an anual trip now.
Thank you John Rodgers for the hospitality, we can’t wait to be back!

Saved by the Tidal Cove water park

Check in was a disaster: no recognition as a Titanium Elite. Had to ask for benefits. Not sure why I did cause it made the process take another 30 minutes! All for asking for an upgrade. After several step aways to check with a manager(?), then fruitlessly checking on the computer, we finally gave up and took our originally booked room. Zero training at front desk. And same disorganization at valet parking.

Room are clean and nicely designed in Orchid Tower. Corsair Restaurant food and service were very good.

However it was our five star experience at Tidal Cove that saved our weekend staycation! Slides are fun but the Flowrider was fantastic! After a short instruction from James, we both were riding the flow!

Thanks to James on FlowRider, for making our weekend a huge success!
