It’s hard to miss the sex appeal of The Standard Spa, an oasis on a small South Florida island a 15-minute drive from the bustle of Ocean Drive. The hotel brings some retro Palm Springs style to Miami, with Midcentury Modern teak consoles and side tables, tufted midnight blue lounges and such natural touches as terrariums, potted trees and a driftwood console table.
Bed & Bath
The room decor at the Miami property is simple and more subtle than at the other Pop Art–inspired Standard hotels, with a serene sand and white palette accented with denim blue. Clean-lined, modern pieces mix with vintage campaign-style chairs and daybeds inspired by camp cots. Funky marble bathrooms have open showers with vintage chrome fixtures and custom organic products.
The Standard has vamped up the time-honored spa, combining up-to-the-second techniques with ancient massage traditions, from a Turkish hammam “Rub and Scrub” to a dip in the sound pool. Locals gather for Friday’s yoga events, combining classes with DJs and live musicians. Refuel on the sun-kissed, organic Mediterranean fare and biodynamic wines at the Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill, and retox over drinks and ping-pong or film screenings at the hotel bar. There’s also an infinity pool and a shop with slick resortwear by Tucker, Lemlem, Haute Hippie and Mosely Tribes.
In the Area
The property is within striking distance of the South Beach action but removed from the late night fray. You’re entitled to indulge in some caloric bad behavior with chef Scott Conant’s fresh pastas at Scarpetta or bourbon and fried chicken at Yardbird Southern Table & Bar. SoBe’s Frank Gehry–designed New World Center makes high culture hip with a theater that transforms into a nightclub-style venue mixing electronica and classical music.
How to Get There
Celebrated my birthday at The Standard Miami with a group of friends, the pool is amazing and the spa so relaxing. The staff are incredibly attentive and really looked after us. Thanks so much to Stephanie for arranging everything!
I would definitely stay here again for longer, then gardens are so lush and tropical, it feels like an Oasis away from South Beach.
Amazing design, amazing amenities, amazing hotel... The Standard is simply The place to stay while in Miami!! A great thank to the whole team, one of the best ever, especially to Stephanie and Crispy for being so nice and available.
We had a five star guest experience. We had flight delays that threw a wrench into our travel plans and they really took great care of us. Specifically Taryn, one of the managers, took the time to sit with us, understand what we needed and went above and beyond in accommodating our additional stay. She made sure we enjoyed our additional day with complementary spa treatments, extended our stay at a more than reasonable rate, and allowed us a late check out. We are already planning our return. Thank you Taryn & Team!
We snuck away to The Standard for a massage and a retreat from reality. Fazli is an excellent masseuse/massage therapist . Oscar by the pool is very attentive. Chris in sales made us feel personally welcome! 20/10 always recommend! I’ve stayed here about 5 times and it never disappoints. Keep up the wonderful energy!
The spa was exceptional, very clean and organized. Loved the spa and the pool, the vibe was very nice. The staff took care of me and my wife very well. In particular Cintia and Sebastian, very kind, very well spoken and great attention to detail. When I walked in Cintia gave us a very warm welcome and Sebastian explained detail by detail the memberships. We are seriously considering getting a membership next month. AMAZING PLACE HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
