How to Get There
Rude and incompetent staff***
I had a reservation under my name in which all persons in the party would be arriving at different times. I called the day prior to the reservation date to add my girlfriend to the reservation so that she would be able to check in, as she would be arriving before me to Miami. The receptionist working reservation copied her name and asked for my itinerary number and I was able to provide it and she assured me that it would be taken care of even though I questioned multiple times to verify. The morning of the trip I called again to verify and this time was told to call back around 9 a.m. and speak with the manager at reception to again confirm her name so that she could check in. After two phone calls that morning I was assured and reassured it should be able to check in without me being present and I also sent my girlfriend a screenshot with all of my information just to be safe.
Upon arrival she was told that she cannot check in without my ID and information being faxed or emailed. She called me from the lobby and I called to try to rectify the situation so she could proceed with check-in. I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes at which time the attendant answered only to tell me to hold on again meanwhile my girlfriend is now an hour in the lobby. He showed no desire or concern to help and simply kept repeating that I would need to fax or email, as I tried to inquire as to why that information was not provided to me in the prior 24 hours. I was then met with a sarcastic response. I eventually arrived and the circus continued as they were unable to check me in and ran into a problem after problem with their system, my girlfriend now in the lobby for 2 and 1/2 hours. It was more troubling to learn that they also had no record or notes from any of my previous phone calls so I had to play a childish game of he said she said with this incompetent staff. There was no compensation or apology other than extending my check out time for 2 hours which will be irrelevant because our flights depart well before checkout.
The valet staff broke my key chain and lost my keys that were attached to it so they had to stop everything and go search for it and literally had no clue what I was talking about. They were eventually recovered.
This is a beautiful hotel and is located in an amazing area but if you were going to stay here make sure you cover all your bases because you will receive little to no help from a very unprofessional and unorganized staff. I'm not one to let a bad experience taint my travel but this was unacceptable and unprofessionalism at its finest. Good luck
The Alexnader is going through construction. Its not as bad as people say. The hours 9 to 5 you should be out enjoying the day. My room 1204 was small and an actual 1 bedroom was better than I envisioned. I had a issue with the tv I called the guy who managed that apartment and he took care of the issue. He is always a quick phone call away. I had a great ocean view and access to the balcony. I cooked my own meals. My only issue in the apartment was bathroom need remodeling.The lady in the store located in the lobby she is very rude and unprofessional the less you go in that store the better. There is public parking one hotel away if you don't mind paying the meter it's $1 per hr. Until 6pm. Why pay $28 For valet. This is my second time at the Alexander but different apartment. I will come back again and recommend this hotel to anyone who don't mind some noise due to construction. The workers don't bother anyone.
At this point it seems useless to try to say anything positive but i will try .first the hotel is located on a beautiful
beach but to start the room keys yes keys we booked 2 rooms .One would not work and after 5 attempts up and down to the desk they gave us a machanical key i didnt know they still could be used on the locks but i later found out with a nudge the doors on both units would just pop open !!!! the water went and off so no showers for either of the rooms .the pots and pans in one unit were so gross we had to haul the food over to the other unit and try to cook it there but even that was a disaster as the kitchen utensials werent much better and there was no running water so went out to dinner and threw out the food as we were leaving the next day to come home.
now with all the being said i awoke in the morning and to my suprise i was looking at a roach crawling on my bag !!!!!OMG luckily i had the bag zippered but i still washed everything in it once i got home.next and yes there is more we paid for the resort portion which meant free chairs out by the oceon on the beach but what they dont tell you is there is a fee for the umbrellas that go with the chairs .Really come on folks thats a whole new level of hidden fees and charges .also to get to the pool which was nice you had to stroll under ground through a maze to end up the pool but i can overlook that as it is under renovations but they do not mention that when booking so there is even more but i believe that is more then enough to get a refund of charges for the room but now five days latter and emails and many calls have yet to be responded to even once .. by the manager whos name is sebastian or so i was told i have called i have emailed i have now reached out to the managmant company for the resort to see if they are willing to assist in the refund . so again i will say sebastian has yet to respond so i am paitiantly waiting ..

Ok. So first let me say the problem wasn’t necessary with the room itself it or the the MAJOR construction that’s going o. And wasn’t told to us BUT was with all the hidden charges and lies. First ALL the photos they show on the website are a lie. None of the rooms look this way AT ALL. They are not bad rooms they just do not look like the photos. Next when we booked some important things that would have changed my mind were not made aware to us. These are the hidden s fees, a 28.75$ per night fee is charge as a resort fee! Then parking is not free it’s valet only at 30/35 a night depending on weekday or weekend. So 60$ e tea dollars a day added onto your bill. And majority of the staff is SO rude. We hade no blankets on the bed, so I called the front desk and the said Housekeeping would be up. It took them almost an hour to bring some up and they were those light brown blankets that hotels use as extras. It was late so we just used them and went to bed. The next day I asked if they had comforters and explained what happened the previous night. The gentleman who he made very clear that “he doesn’t work for the hotel and works for the condo side was doing me a favor” because it wasn’t his job. Bottom line the rooms are not awful BUT most of the staff is and the the extra 60$ a day sucked!!! Find another place
Room with lots of hydraulic problems. Water leaking from the private and from the shower. Dishwasher was broken. I asked in the reception for an extra bath rug (because the one that was in the toilet became drowned) and they didn't help me.
But the location and the swimming pool are very good! You can go directly to the beach, no need to cross the street.
