Looking Better!
Reviewed 3 days ago

There is still some construction going on. You might want to call before you reserve to be sure the amenities you’re looking for are available. However, I see many improvements already. The Lobby has a cool new modern look.

Some improvement

BE careful when renting directly from “The Hotel”. There are a number of companies that rent the condominiums in this building. It seems the “hotel” offers lower rates because they have more of the non-updated units. All of the apartments are owned be individuals , so they are all VERY different. I suggest searching out some of the management companies that rent and manage the apartments there. If you do it that way you won’t have the services of the front desk but from the reviews that won’t be a loss. The management company that I rented from was very responsive and addressed the small issues I had.

As for the construction, there really isn’t any noise but one of the pools is closed. They haven’t remodeled the hallways yet but the lobby has been updated (thank goodness) with cool modern furniture instead of the stodgy old furniture they used to have. Maybe they finally realized its not 1960 anymore!

The restaurant is closed but the pool bar serves food and drinks.

The Negative reviews are ALL TRUE!

All the Negative Reviews are TRUE!
I am going to be as honest as possible,  keeping it respectful at the same time.

The Alexander hotel needs to be openly honest about the magnitude of construction they have going on. Everywhere & anywhere they are advertising a "Resort package experience" needs to know the Truth!! Do not believe it is a small construction, they will lie to you to get your business, like they lied to us when we called 4 months in advance, before booking our vacation package. We were told construction will be DONE by February 2019 and they were only renovating windows. An absolute LIE!

Everything and I mean everything feels like it is under renovations. The pool is dirty with cement, dust, and smells from the loud, heavy construction they have going on literally steps away from people lounging on chairs. The pool waterfall does not work. The Tiki bar is under renovations with the steps being construction staircases. The prices are overly priced for what you have to experience

I think they should lower the prices because of this. The bartender was very nice and so was the manager. He gave us some Miami Vices on the house our first day when we arrived at 730am requested an early check in, was told that would be fine, come 2pm we are still in traveling clothes, bags with bell men walking around the construction site hotel with a 7 month old because our room was supposely getting cleaned from 11am - 2pm.

Construction on the beach aswell. Apparently they are making a board walk?!

I spoke to some nice Jewish ladies when there. (By the way a huge Jewish community here) and she told me she owns an apartment here and the construction has been going on for 2.5 years !! She even said it is absolutely ludicrous with all the money they are ripping off from vacation goers, they should have finished the construction by now.

Our apartment was on the top floor. Was told it was renovated (Lies). Maybe they meant renovated from the 1950's because the furniture was old, run down and alot of things broken all around the apartment. I have to say the apartment has "potential" if it gets "renovated", because of the size
 and view you recieve.

Phones in apartments do not work. No dial tone. When you call from your cell no one ever answers at the front desk. so basically if you need anything for your room you will have to physically go downstairs to ask. And you will not recieve it right away. Days will go by and you will find yourself asking over and over again.

Traveling with a family of 6, including a baby and there were No blankets and limited towels.
We asked politely for blankets on day 1 and come the next day we are still asking for blankets at 5pm. My husband saw our little baby and I freezing and walked next door to another hotel to ask to borrow blankets. We explained the nightmare we were experiencing and promised to bring them back (which we did). Our requested blankets from the Alexander did not arrive until day 3 of our stay, where at that point we had borrowed blankets from hotel next door.

Fire alarms went off twice In the matter of a 4 days span. No fire. Just fire alarms randomly going off. Talk about freaking people out on top of the nightmare experience. Just an added inconvenience!

Parents beware you will get charged $25 plus tax to borrow a crib. The crib will look like something from the 1960's, not kidding. This was something we were very upset about because when we called 4 months in advance we were told cribs are by request and complimentary. My husband spoke up because honestly I was going to bring our own playpen for our baby and decided not to when we were told it was free.

Just know they will charge you for EVERYTHING. NO customer service at all. The front desk female manager seems miserable and has an attitude. Absolutely no customer service, for the inconvenience of construction they have going on, you would think they would be more welcoming. Nope!

Every single person that works here is a hustler and a liar it feels like.

The shop is a joke. They sell random things from clothes to food to empanadas to liquor and everything is over priced. Dont think about making a return if you purchase something that didnt come with a protective seal. Lady said I could only do an exchange for something else. I had $1 left after I purchased ice and she charged me for a lollipop for $1 when the actual lollipop said 25cents on the label.

Why did we stay you ask? Because We recieved this as a Vacation package with flights included. Traveling with 6 people and making last minute hotel changes would not be easy. We all decided to make the most of it all but we will NOT be going back.

Advice: if you have time I'd say pay alittle more and stay somewhere else where you will receive a resort experience. Get what you deserve on your Vacation. This place will not give you your Vacation resort experience you search for.

You have been warned. Good luck!

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed

We stayed at this hotel in one of their apartments. It was dirty, filled with unnecessary junk - the pool was equally disgusting and the clientele a match to the decor. I’ve had nightmares about this place. Stay away!!!

Glad to see some renovations being done

The best part of this hotel was the balcony. While other places had balconies with better views, we really appreciate the large size and privacy of the balcony here with views of both downtown and the beach. We traveled as a few friends and were pleased that our room had a full kitchen. Besides that the room was fine, nothing super exciting, but no problems either. There were issues a few times with hot water, but other times it worked fine.

The service was great. More personable and laid back than I was used to at other places, which I enjoyed. There is a small shop that sells some (random and odd?) items, but its a great place to grab a coffee in the morning or a drink in the hotel.

The hotel is undergoing renovations which can be heard from the morning (don't remember what time) and it means that the pool is partially closed and the back entrance is definitely lackluster.

Overall I enjoyed the balcony and weather most, and would consider coming back here after renovations are finished.
