Glittering hotel-within-a-hotel on the northern edge of Miami Beach, with a celeb chef sushi spot and Japanese details galore
For its Floridian first, the prolific Nobu group took over a standard-setting 1956 tower—the Eden Roc originally built by Morris Lapidus—and transformed it into a swish David Rockwell-designed Japanese dream. Paper lantern lamps flank guest room beds, silk cherry blossom accents adorn the ceilings, and floors are lined with wooden planks. The Far Eastern influences are most apparent at the anchor restaurant, where sushi (Nobu Matsuhisa is the brand co-founder, after all) can be enjoyed alongside umami chicken wings, yellowtail jalapeno with dry miso, and even an Asian take on fish and chips. For something a tad healthier, book a table at the other restaurant onsite for Cali-fresh creations like cauliflower crust pizza, coconut fish curry with fennel, and miso-poached shrimp. Afterwards, get the ultimate taste of Miami glamour during a lounge sesh by one of the three pools or the property’s private beachfront.
In the Area
Though the Nobu hotel itself is a hotbed of cultural events, with a roster that includes oceanfront pizza-making classes, art walks, and live music sessions, it’s worth stepping out to explore Miami’s chilled-out side. North Beach, as this neighborhood is known, is dotted with low-key beaches, picnic pavilions, and shaded walking trails (rent one of the hotel’s bicycles to explore on wheels). A celebrated performance venue, the North Beach Bandshell is ideal for alfresco flamenco and open-air opera. The area is also home to a sizable Argentinian population: don’t miss empanadas and pastelitos at Buenos Aires Bakery and Café.
How to Get There
The moment you walk into the Nobu hotel you will realized you've made the right decision. Immediately, you are greeted with a wonderful clean scent that is SO refreshing after long travels. As well, a cool hand towels and tea. The front desk staff is friendly and engaging. The hotel is amazing. I had the pleasure of meeting the hotel manager, Shevonne, and she was so warm and hospitable towards us. She really went out of her way to make our stay memorable. Thank you, Shevonne for making our trip!
We had an ocean front room. Again, absolutely stunning!
If you are debating staying here - don't debate, just stay here. We had a beach cabana one day which was so nice to be in beside the ocean. Definitely recommend doing this upgrade for at least a day.
Overall staff, is so wonderful. I had a spa service and the front desk area ladies were so warm and kind!
We had such a fantastic stay. I can't wait go back!
Our room, location, service and amenities were all top notch and would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the Miami Beach area. We spent most of our days at the beach and pool, and the staff both the ones that work at the hotel to make our stay as comfortable as possible and the ones that would serve us while lounging were extremely polite, helpful, and very quick in satisfying any requests we had for them. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Miami!
Nobu is a great hotel. The staff, pools, beach, bars, and food are amazing. There is so much to do in the area, and I love that the liveliness of South Beach is only a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a quality South Florida experience.
