Art Deco bones and a rock & roll soul — that’s the Marlin Hotel, located in the throbbing heart of Miami Beach. Built by beloved architect Laurence Murray Dixon in 1939, the Marlin stood for South Beach cool under record producer Chris Blackwell in the 1990s, and in 2015 it got a full refresh.
Bed and Bath
The 14 modern guestrooms are a tech geek’s playground, starting with the 55-inch LED screens behind wall mirrors. But it’s more fun to play with the built-in musical “moods”; whether you choose Relaxing, Urban or Pop, you can count on top-notch sound, thanks to the Tannoy surround system, with subwoofer. The look is ultra-minimalist, with a muted gray and white palette, clean-lined white and chrome furniture and abstract Technicolor paintings. Bathrooms have rainfall showers with sumptuous William Roam products and plush robes.
Chef Michael Pirolo is at the helm of Bází, the hotel’s Asian-inspired restaurant serving up innovative fare including duck udon soup, pecan-topped baby bok choy and eggplant kobra kai. Make sure to stop by the sleek, fashion-forward bar for a molecular gastronomy-style cocktail.
How to Get There
We stay her for 2 nights i juni 2018.
Excellent room, perfect location.
Close to beach, and best part of Miami Beach (Between 2-20 street)
The twinbeded room was nice, clean and with a nice bathroom an a god and big bed.
Nice small hotel. No pool but for a quick trip its fine because it's very close to beach and no pool = no resort fee. Concierge is helpful. The rooms are clean, modern decor. Beds are comfy. I thought the little things made it a great stay. For example the hair straightener and make up removing wipes. As a woman I appreciated the small touches.
We stayed at the Marlin for just two nights whilst en route from Cape Canaveral to Key West. It was easy to find and we parked in the public car park behind the city hall for $40 for two days.
Check in was quick and easy, and the room very well equipped with a day bed as well as the main bed, espresso machine, mini bar, great TV and a luxurious bathroom. The Beds were very comfortable.
We had breakfast (continental) which was good value at $10 each with our son eating for free.
We didn’t eat at the hotel but it looked to be very good food and reasonably priced for the area.
The building is fantastic and well restored as a lovely piece of Art Deco architecture. The fittings are all high quality and the whole place had a sense of understated luxury. A nice and welcome contrast to the circus of South Beach.
Hotel with excellent location and quite and clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is OK for Europeans. Receptionists are very helpful to give ideas about the surrounding area and trips. Restaurant in house serves excellent food but a little pricy.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife for our honeymoon. Room and hotel were gorgeous and the location was amazing. Only disappointing thing was that we were not made to feel special considering it was our honeymoon and we had let them know in advance. If it had been a general stay and not a special occasion I would have given 5 stars.
