Art Deco bones and a rock & roll soul — that’s the Marlin Hotel, located in the throbbing heart of Miami Beach. Built by beloved architect Laurence Murray Dixon in 1939, the Marlin stood for South Beach cool under record producer Chris Blackwell in the 1990s, and in 2015 it got a full refresh.
Bed and Bath
The 14 modern guestrooms are a tech geek’s playground, starting with the 55-inch LED screens behind wall mirrors. But it’s more fun to play with the built-in musical “moods”; whether you choose Relaxing, Urban or Pop, you can count on top-notch sound, thanks to the Tannoy surround system, with subwoofer. The look is ultra-minimalist, with a muted gray and white palette, clean-lined white and chrome furniture and abstract Technicolor paintings. Bathrooms have rainfall showers with sumptuous William Roam products and plush robes.
Chef Michael Pirolo is at the helm of Bází, the hotel’s Asian-inspired restaurant serving up innovative fare including duck udon soup, pecan-topped baby bok choy and eggplant kobra kai. Make sure to stop by the sleek, fashion-forward bar for a molecular gastronomy-style cocktail.
How to Get There
Smooth check-in no waiting. Big room (for European standards), comfy bed with quiet air-con. Nice rain shower with toiletries and good blowdrier. 2 Beach towels available in a beach bag , which we were even allowed to use after checkout on our last day. Brought it back after our beach day , no fuss. Big parking lot 1 blocl down the street for 20$/day We will be back here again for a Miami stay.
We spent 2 nights in mid December. The staff here is really nice and helpful, available 24/7. You have the option of a continental breakfast which was very good. Nice and fresh produce. The rooms were in top condition. The bed was just amazing. Slept so well here! The amenities in the bathroom smelled like heaven.
We would love to return to this wonderful hotel! Thanks for a great stay.
Attention to details, modern, functional and many amenities, ranks this boutique hotel as one of the best I've ever stayed in. You got all what you need: the bed is comfortable, the towels and linen are top-notch, the mini-bar is loaded with good stuff (the prices are a bit expensive, though- $7 for a Red Bull, $6.5 for assorted nuts, for example).
A Nespresso machine, a safe deposit box which is operated by your room card, very good lighting, electrical-operated shades, robes, nicely designed bathroom with amenities. They even put wet wipes next to the toilet seat.
The only "bad" thing I can say is that like in most hotels, there aren’t enough towel hangers in the bathroom, as the rack is too narrow to have two towels drying up there, and there's only one hook for the hand towel. I would recommend them to place more hangers on the bathroom's door inner side.
Location is good- Collins Avenue is just 1 minute walk from Ocean drive and the sea front. If you come with a car, there's a close by municipal parking garage on 13th st., between Collins and Ocean dr., which is 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
Came here with my wife after our arrival from Germany. Wanted to calm down from the flight and spend a few days in south beach before heading on. That was the perfect place to do that due to its great location not far from the beach and the rest of the shops and attractions around south beach. Public parking lots within walking distance made it easy to just roll up, drop our bags and relax. The staff was friendly and helpful, let’s us keep the beach towels after checkout for the remainder of the day. The room was spacious enough, clean and we felt good taken care off.
The Marlin is a very special place. Great rooms, location, and convenience. The staff was delightful, and accommodating. If you don’t eat in the restaurant for dinner you are missing out on a wonderful experience. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Miami.
