How to Get There
At first I was enjoying my weekend gateway at EPIC. Staff are super nice. But the manager was not very nice. My fiancé lost his wallet with all his IDs and his phone. We had to catch out flight in a couple of hours that day so we went back to look for it and got back late to check out. I tried talking to the manager and explain what was going on my anxiety was out this world but he dismissed me quickly. They charged me 175 for late check out . I spent a lot of money there. It’s sad. Very inconsiderate. I hope nothing like that happens to him .
I agree with the reviewer below. I cannot recommend this property. I was in Miami for a conference at the InterContinental Miami. The Kimpton was a bit cheaper, so I thought I would save my company some money and stay a block away at the Kimpton. That was a huge mistake. There were some screw-ups (credit card authorization was not on file even though we got confirmation that it was received a month prior, etc). However, everyone makes mistakes and maybe I could overlook these. However, like the reviewer previously pointed out, there is construction in the hotel that is extremely loud.
If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, or if you are in Miami on business, you may want to carefully think about staying here. I wish I had just stayed at the InterContinental Miami.
Spent a few days at the hotel with my wife to celebrate her birthday. Great amenities and facilities. Staff is wonderful and super helpful. Special shout out to Seth Frank!!!! he such an amazing staff. He pulled out all the stops, got us into the best places in town and provided guidance and advice especially for us newbees visiting from the UK.
We had an absolutely amazing time at Epic, clean beautiful room and friendly faces. I would like to especially point out Robert Murray at the Front Desk for making our stay the most comfortable yet in Miami. Thank you so much !
We have been to Miami many times and stayed at this property once before, about two years ago shorty after the hurricane came through. We enjoyed our stay then, despite some damage to exterior areas from the storm.
This time, our stay was far from enjoyable. Let's start with the damage from the hurricane nearly two years ago. There was a nice area with a nice big sign near the river that was damaged. As on today, this is still not repaired. I asked an employee about it and his response was, "yep they still haven't fixed it, I guess Kimpton just doesn't care about us", and shrugged and walked away. The coming in from the street is also in need of repair. Do these things really matter? Not really, but it says a lot about how the company operates, that they wont even fix the outward most representations of their property.
My remaining grief was due to the room we had. Upon entering we noticed the room in very rough shape. wallpaper pealing everywhere, scuffed up walls, damage trim, lamps shades bent and crooked, and a general uncleanliness (we stepped on hair and contact lenses on the floor in the bathroom). Topping that all off, there was a tried booger on one of the pillows which tells us the linens were not even changed from the previous guests. The cleaning never really improved much during our 4 night stay. Used glasses were simply turned over and presented as clean instead of being replaced. Hair remained on the bathroom floor. We are not ones to complain about these things on property because this sort of thing is unacceptable and should never be an issue and I would rather use my voice to review the property after the fact.
There was some sort of construction going on near our room that made it impossible to rest during any daytime hours. Nearly constant loud hammering and other noises that made time spent in the room completely enjoyable.
Let's also take a moment to address an industry wide plague known as resort fees. This property is particularly bad, charging for essentially nothing. Did we get coffee in room? NO Did we receive bottles of water daily for our $32+tax nightly? NO Did we really get anything out of paying that ridiculous mandatory fee? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
