How to Get There
Stayed for two nights prior to joining a cruise. Booked last minute and didn't know what to expect, but wow, the room and the stunning view blew me away. The whole experience was just beautiful and luxurious. The staff were fantastic; very friendly and helpful. Didn't eat in the hotel (quite expensive for our budget); we ate at Bayside which was only a 10-15 minute walk. Pool area was stunning and immaculate. Can't praise this hotel highly enough. Just book!
The Epic was our designated hotel prior to a cruise out of Miami and it was better than many prior pre-cruise hotels we have experienced. It is located at the head of the canal and has a pretty dramatic set of water views ( ours was a city view looking the other way). Well it will until the 69 story Aston Martin building is completed in a couple of years which will wipe out most of the water views. That heavy construction impacts current access to the Epic as well as the noise environment on the water side of the building. Just a reality of ultra high density Miami I suppose. The hotel is pretty good in most regards although one experiences an interesting entry into the lobby- a large heavy door is the principal way into the lobby with no doorman- a bit of an oddity for a 5 star hotel. Once you navigate the door, the front desk was friendly and efficient. The hotel, public and private spaces, are contemporary and attractive, but the hotel is undergoing a renovation so not everything is up to snuff or available ( like the pool). The hotel age shows up in the elevators as the key card security was routinely balky- we and others had to fight to get the key card system to read the key. There were other areas where the walls and furniture were showing their age. Our room was a large double, double with a large bath.There was lots of natural and room light with multiple outlets. A coupon for 20% off the restaurant and 2 glasses of wine was provided.
The room had glass stems and water glasses, but no coffee/tea service ( available in the lobby) The room featured a large flatscreen with many channels, a safe, robes, yoga mat an umbrella and complementary internet (unusual in a 5 star house). The beds and linens were good enough ( not 5 star) but the pillows need help. The large bath had a shower and tub, along with only enough good towels, but excellent toiletries. We used our coupon at the Area 31 restaurant- which was too small and understaffed for the hotel size and overwhelmed by the pre-cruise crowd. We ate in the bar, where the bartended was doing yeoman's work and the food was very good. Breakfast was served in a conference room and was well staffed and of very good quality. The overall experience was very good, especially in comparison to some other pre-cruise hotels we have stayed at. It is likely not living up to a 5 star rating at the moment to due renovations, lack of top quality amenities and thin staffing and service, which precludes a FIVE rating. The 2-3 years of heavy construction next to it will impact the experience and once the giant building goes up, the loss of most of the water views will be too bad. Enjoyed the stay for the purpose intended.
Stayed here for 2 nights before a cruise departure...fairly close to the cruise terminal...large bathroom ...executive suite...sits on the Miami river...lots of restaurants near by and very walkable...MarketPlace is nearby...financial district...
I’ve been in Epic for holiday and I think it’s been the right option.
The hotel is new, modern and clean designed. Very good location, in the downtown, on the river.
There is a garage for cars, very useful and the staff was very polite and very helpful.
I stayed at the Epic Hotel for 2 weeks while in town for work. The service is beyond the expected and started from the moment I stepped in the door. One of the awesome front desk staff, Alex, remembered me from a year ago and really started the entire experience off on the right foot. The small things like remembering someone and saying hi are what true and genuine customer service is made of.
I then had the pleasure of interacting with Roger the manager! He was able to help me with various questions and requests. Roger made my entire two weeks beyond enjoyable. I truly felt I was an important guest. There is no price tag on that feeling for a guest.
Bravo, Roger! Your staff is incredible and thank you all for a fantastic stay! Other front desk staffs have a lot to learn from you guys!! I can’t wait to come back!!!
