How to Get There
This was the first time I stayed in downtown Miami with friends to celebrate Miami Carnival. This hotel is superb by far, upon arrival the hotel has a water front view. The hotel does have residential side but you won't get confused as the entrances are different.
A doorman is opening the door when you enter or leave the hotel, which I found to be very exquisite. The lobby is decorative with fresh flowers and high ceilings leaving a breath-taking modern concept. The hotel does offer an Asian Fusion restaurant located on the opposite side of the lobby.
Once we checked in and made our way to the room we shocked at the lavish room and balcony. The room included a two-sink bathroom with a tub and shower separate from each other. From the tub there is an opening which gives a view to the bedroom.
The room had two queens size beds, television, night stand, snack bar, and desk. The balcony gave the view of the water front and the downtown building. As we looked down, we could see the pool that I believe was on the fifth floor. The hotel also included a spa, gym, yoga classes, and events.
This hotel is a beautiful display of luxury, art, and simplicity and gives a sexy and classic feel of being in Miami. My friends and I partied hard and were glad we made the decision to stay downtown to relax and get rest. The Kimpton EPIC Hotel was peaceful and lively at the right times.
This place is phenomenally well-located in Miami, best sushi in the city in the lobby, but this review is to highlight a particular guest services employee named Jesse. I had an unfortunate (though self-inflicted) injury to my back. Having to make a meeting the next day, I faced an issue in tying my own shoes. Embarrassed, I hobbled to the lobby, where Jesse selflessly volunteered for same and is an example for service professionals everywhere. Five stars.
We stayed here a couple of years ago and just loved it. The rooms, the location, the restaurant offerings are really swell, so staying in Miami this time around for a long Valentine's weekend, we didn't look elsewhere.
A couple of things we noticed that were different: every single encounter we had with staff was exemplary - from restaurant staff, housekeeping, to front desk and concierge - they were all exceedingly pleasant and helpful. Just top notch.
The other thing we noticed - big uptick in noise level that we don't remember from last visit.... our first night, I couldn't sleep at all. There was on and off again loud humming that sounded like an alarm. (I am wondering how many other rooms have this phenomenon, or was it just our room? They should take care of this and not rent out the room. It's THAT loud.) The front desk staff took care of moving our belongings to another room for the remainder of our stay - a bit higher up, but closer to the construction project (and with fantastic water views) adjacent to the property.
Even though we were 20+ floors up, I was awakened by construction workers yelling at each other at 5:45 am on Saturday morning!
Despite this, we truly enjoyed our stay and would still stay here again... I just will make sure I bring earplugs next time!
I was four nights during the 2019 Boat Show in Miami. Since the moment I checked in, Donovan was specially kind, and made me feel welcome in a real way. Most importantly, the Concierge Gene helped me with a very difficult and unusual request on my side. He found a way to solve the problem I had with creativity and unseen kindness. He definitively surpassed the expectations I ever had with a Concierge.
The Kimpton EPIC is asking for some TLC. The rooms and certain common areas are showing significant signs of wear and tear.
Rooms: The rooms were probably really nice sometime ago but they feel rundown these days with lots of signs of wear and tear throughout. Mine had a musty/stuffy smell that wouldn’t go away. I reported it as soon as I got to the room and the front desk offered to spray it, which resulted in a lovely combination of musty + febreze. The iron in the room wasn’t working either. Black particles sprayed from the steam nozzles when I tried to iron a shirt. I reported it to the front desk and they offered to credit my account.
Service: The staff was very friendly and did their best to resolve the issues with the aging and not properly maintained rooms.
Food: I only experience room service breakfast and the food was fine. Menu had variety and the dishes were well executed.
Common Areas: the pool area feels like it’s lacking maintenance and showing signs of wear and tear, just like the room. The area is desperately asking for a makeover.
Location: convenient and close to multiple dining options. Many restaurants are walking distance
