VERY disappointed
Reviewed 2 days ago

My husband and I have stayed at the Cadet for 4 or 5 years for Art Basil. Each year when we left, we reserved for the following year. I called 5 days before we were scheduled to arrive (having confirmed about 6 months ago) and was told that we had no reservation with NO effort to find another hotel, no apology, nor even a call back. Disappointed hardly describes how we felt. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We found a FABULOUS suite at the Loews nearby. It was HUGE, clean and comfortable for only a little more than the Cadet.

Great location, attractive boutique hotel, but mold?

I stayed in the Cadet Hotel several years ago and was looking forward to a return visit (one night stay prior to cruise). It would be hard to beat the hotel's location - two blocks from the beach, two blocks from Lincoln Blvd and about a fifteen minute walk along the ocean to Ocean Blvd in South Beach. Reasonable rates (at least for Miami Beach) and reasonably priced public parking garage about two blocks away. It is the prototypical period Miami Beach hotel. Small, nicely furnished and full of interesting items in the lobby (the Cadet Hotel during WWII was used as housing for Army cadets in training. Clark Gable was their commanding officer). Rooms are of decent size and have everything you need for a least a short stay. They serve a nice breakfast (not included) on an attractive patio off the lobby. The only thing stopped me from giving the hotel four stars was the apparent presence of mold in our room. When we opened the door there was a rather strong smell of some sort of room deodorizer. It wasn't an unpleasant smell and you got used to it once you were in the room. I assumed it was some sort of cleaning product but the smell was just as strong each time we returned to the room. You could also see where the wall plaster had been damaged by moisture below the AC unit. I am prone to mold caused allergy symptoms and I was pretty much a mess when I got up the next morning. My allergies cleared up every time I left the room for an hour or more and would return once back in the room. Our room this time was on the first floor. I did not have this problem when I was there before but our room was on the second floor. So if you have mold allergy problem you might want to avoid or at least check out the room first. Too bad, otherwise it is a nice hotel.

3 nights in cadet

Rooms are clean and nice but it’s small than expected. Staffs are nice. Breakfast is OK, I would give 3.5 rating for breakfast. Swimming pool is really small and it was close during my stay. Pool is not for swim I guess. It looks like a big bathtub.

Wonderful staff and a great location.

We visit Miami Beach for a few days each year and always try to stay in the Cadet. This time we took a junior suite on the James avenue side. The room was lovely though a little noisy. As usual the staff were exceptional. While all were nice, we should single Riccardo out. He was invariably helpful and knowledgeable. In addition, we left a Kindle behind and he and his colleagues arranged to send it back to us. Thanks Ricky. The Cadet's location is ideal, simple walk to Ocean Drive or the pedestrian part of Lincoln avenune.

Great location

This place is very conviniente, great location, very close to the beach, close to the main bars and restaurants. Everywhere within a few minutes walking.

The rooms are ok, quite small, but honestly with everything we need. Bed is small, but very comfortable. The shower isn’t the best, no pressure at all, but it’s not a big deal.
It’s clean, the receptionists are great, super helpful.
They offer clean towels everyday. I can’t tell if they change the sheets everyday, but they offer housekeeping service.

Hands up to Luiz, who is very helpful and can offer advice on where to get things done.
