Wellness-centric Miami Beach hotel with a pool and rooftop sundeck just one block from the ocean
Located in a quiet section of Miami Beach, the 102-room Hotel Croydon opened in June 2014, but its history dates back to the 1930s, when it was praised for its Art Deco design. Here, many amenities focus on healing and wellness, including a fitness room, an outdoor swimming pool, meditation sessions, kickboxing and holistic massages. Yoga classes are held on the rooftop sundeck, which has 360-degree views of the ocean and city. Back inside, the guestrooms feature mahogany porcelain tile floors, iHome docking stations, plush beds with cooling gel memory foam and tufted white headboards. The bathrooms offer C.O. Bigelow toiletries. The Tavern restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, cooking up entrees such as pan-seared mahi mahi with jasmine rice and broccoli rabe, short rib burgers with caramelized onions, and steak frites with chimichurri sauce.
In the Area
There aren’t many entertainment options in the immediate area, but the beach is just across the street and sun chairs are provided for hotel guests. Several golf courses are just five minutes to the north. Rather flex that plastic? Lincoln Road Mall, a hub for shopping, is about two miles south. A variety of water activities are sprinkled throughout the city, including paragliding, paddleboarding, kitesurfing, kayaking and sailing. For a unique, off-the-path attraction, history buffs should explore the Ancient Spanish Monastery, about 10 miles north. Those seeking a taste Miami’s sizzling nightlife should head to Mansion and LIV, two high-energy clubs in South Beach. For dinner and cocktails, the Forge restaurant and wine bar has an elegant setting and farm-to-table menu selections.
