If Christopher Nolan designed a Miami hideaway, it might look a bit like ABAE Hotel. The film director’s signature aesthetic, with all its references to cryptography and 21st-century Asian architecture, has quite a bit in common with that of this brand-new retreat – even the hotel’s name is a translation of its building’s street number, 1215, into the corresponding letters of the alphabet. The Flavio Rossato-designed Eskape Collection property boasts that it’s "cracked the code to comfort and glamour" and, with an art collection, a year-round rooftop pool with underwater speakers and luxe suites that hold kitchenettes and living areas, lives up to the claim. But if you’d like to do some deciphering yourself, the city is right outside, with thousands of paths to follow and doors to open.
In fact, you’re right in the heart of Miami Beach, on the upper edge of South Beach. Within blocks are the convention center, the Lincoln Road Mall and the thoroughfares of Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive – each with dozens of their own destinations, like buzzing restaurants and swimwear boutiques. Just a bit farther, at roughly six blocks, is the beach, and the nightspots of Brickell are a short drive across the causeway, offering hundreds more directions in which take your dream escape. After a day or night on the town, your suite’s sleek master bedroom will feel like a dream within a dream – just like a proper Nolan ending.
