This hotel is across from the Guadalajara Expo. I recommend this hotel because is off the main streets, close to the airport and they have two restaurants inside plus the option for breakfast in the 19th floor.

Hilton or Westin?

Why “Hilton vs Westin”?

Well, most readers will figure out in their research, both hotels are literally next to each other. Your preference can come down to...are you a Hilton points fan or Marriott points fan? Right there, that can determine your choice.

I stayed at the Hilton, my co-worker stayed at the Westin. Since I didn’t stay at the Westin, this review is heavy on Hilton.

Rooms. Nicely appointed, a little tired. Hard floors vs carpet. Not sure I liked the hardwood floors, but that could be a personal preference. Though, I think they did it, due to the age of the hotel and the humid weather, eliminated the “musty” smell. Westin has carpet, but my buddy didn’t believe the beds were “true” Westin beds.

The Front fest couldn’t have been nicer. The Hilton is definitely a “conference center” hotel vs the Westin. Hilton seems to be the older of the two and Westin is a little more contemporary, but doesn’t have the little shops like the Hilton.

Breakfast is better at the Westin than the Hilton. The bar is better at the Westin than the Hilton. The bar at the Westin is on the ground floor, light and spacious. The Hilton bar is on the second floor and small and dark. But...it does stay open longer.

So which one? You can’t go wrong with either and if you go with your preferred points provider, you won’t be disappointed. BUT, if you have both or don’t care, I would lean towards Westin. The food, bar, and the contemporary feel would swing me. I didn’t see their rooms, so that would be cautionary.

Average hotel, nothing special, hotel rooms are old and showing signs of wear out, renovation of the rooms and corridors would be recommended. Wardrobe located in the bathroom which I found pretty odd.
