How to Get There
HBV is a superb place to stay to get a wonderful insight into the magic of Maui. The property is well appointed and excellently presented. Courteous and efficient on site and support staff can’t be faulted.
We had a great experience at Wailea Beach Villas. The unit we were in was impeccably clean, well accommodated and had fantastic views of the ocean. Every staff member we encountered was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were in the taller tower so we had very convenient access to the Shops at Wailea, which include a grocery store and handful of restaurants. Short (5 minute) walk to the beach along the Beach Villas property. The beach itself had crystal clear water, plenty of umbrellas and chairs and lots of sea turtles. If we can swing it, we’ll be back next year!
This place had everything we were looking for--beach front access, kiddie and adult pools, full kitchen and washer/dryer, housekeeping, fluffy towels, comfy beds, toiletries, and best of all, everything was just as described and looked like the picture! We appreciated the welcome amenity of banana bread and water having not had time to stop for lunch and appreciated not having to bring toiletries. There is a large Safeway about 15 minutes from the residence and, as we discovered on the second to last day, a small market (Island Gourmet Markets) across the street in the Shops of Wailea. We appreciated that the condo came fully stocked (and I mean fully stocked with both plastic and glass juice glasses, champagne flutes, Tupperware, Ziploc bags, laundry and dishwashing detergent, etc.). We also appreciated that they were able to supply us with both a crib and a Pack n Play as well as a highchair. The pools and beach always had chairs available no matter what time of day which meant there weren't people reserving chairs at 6 AM ( a pet peeve). Best of all though was the huge lanai with ocean view. I loved being able to open the doors up in the morning and eat breakfast there. The grounds were beautiful and the overall property was very quiet and peaceful. While the place is pricey, given that the Grand Wailea next door was charging $800 a night for a single room, this seemed like a deal in comparison and much better suited to our needs. While there is no room or poolside service, you can bring food down to the pool with you, there are restaurants that deliver, and there is a small food truck next door to the adult pool (in the Marriott) which had great fish tacos. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially the concierge, housekeeping, and beach attendants who went out of their way to personally deliver food when the restaurant got the phone number wrong, left a small stuffed octopus for my daughter, and brought some sunscreen down to the beach which we had accidentally left by the pool. We rarely had to drive given how accessible the other hotels were along the beachfront walkway. As others have commented, it is a hilly walk up from the beach (especially with a stroller--there is an accessible path without stairs but steep) but so are the other hotels in the area. The only negatives were the lack of WIFI by the pools (although I did see a WBV WIFI signal so maybe it exists?) and lack of initial clarification as to which beach chairs went with the hotel which was easily resolved (they are the green ones). Also, I did finally remember to request a late checkout the day before which they were thankfully able to accommodate but the front desk staff had to check with rentals for some reason and it took them an entire afternoon to get back to me on. Lastly, the easiest way to get to the kiddie pool was through the garage which was a little odd. Certainly there were other ways to get there but they took longer. However, if those are the worst negatives, then you've stumbled onto a good thing!
