How to Get There
From getting a reservation with the lovely Rebecca to check out, a wonderful experience. Feels out of town by the size of the room (huge) but it's right in the middle of it all. Very up to date and stylish, but extremely comfortable. Easy parking, big/excellent bathroom, awesome bed and your own porch to drink the Nantucket Coffee roasters coffee on. Highly recommend.
Victor, the driver who met us at the ferry was wonderful - very friendly and full of tips about where to go in town. The hotel is close by, but we appreciated the ride anyway.
Our room was small, but comfortable for two. There’s a nice pool that is relatively quiet on beach days. We spent several happy hours there enjoying the warm water, comfortable lounge chairs, and snacks from the pool bar.
My only complaint about the hotel is that the walls or maybe the door were thin and we could hear everything going on in the hallway starting early in the morning — families checking out and the sounds of the housekeeping crew making their rounds. It was a minor issue though. Overall it’s a very nice hotel in a great location close to everything in town.
From the time we were dropped off until we left, the staff was friendly and helpful. Their suggestions and responses to our questions were helpful. We enjoyed the second floor accommodations, which were well appointed. Unlike other reviewers, we did not have a chance to enjoy all of the amenities as the location made it easy for us to explore the area. A thank you to the staff for a great time.
We have always eaten at their restaurant but never stayed on site until this past weekend. The cost of a two night weekend stay, king suite with fireplace $1475
The concierge called a few weeks prior to our arrival to check on our ferry arrival. I also reconfirmed our arrival the day prior to arriving. Our ferry arrived on time 11:20A but no one was there to transport us to the hotel. I asked another driver and he called the White Elephant for us, someone will be arriving shortly. In the meantime it was becoming colder and windier. Everyone departed the dock area except another couple and us so we started chatting. They too were waiting for the WE pick up. We finally were on our way at 11:50A, 1/2 hour late. The driver said he was not aware of the schedule. Both couples stated it was on time and the WE was aware of our arrival time. The driver insisted he was not aware of our arrival time. Sounds like BS to me.
Due to the early arrival our room was not ready, check in is at 3P. We checked our luggage and had lunch at Brandt Grill. The food was delicious and great service. Finally got to our room around 2:30. It was wonderful. Great linens, view of the harbor on the quiet side of the Inn. However, the coffee machine did not work-for the price, everything should be in working condition prior to guest arrival.
We walked everywhere, great location. The bar scene was vibrant, good music and drinks. A free continental breakfast of coffee/ tea and pastries is provided. We did not get to do the 4P port and cheese.
Housekeeping was twice daily, but again, one tradhcan was not emptied. It may sound picky, but for the price this should not be. We checked out, and I asked if there was a zero bill. You do not need one but I can print one for you. Lots of staff but no one seems to know what to do or ask the right questions.
I keep reading about a departing gift. They must have stopped that or we were missed! No one offered us sachets or whatever they were giving out. Plus, we were there for Daffodil weekend and on their site was a Daffodil weekend gift. We got nothing!
We will continue to eat at their restaurant but will not stay there. We were expecting superior service but received service that is on par with any other hotel. Very disappointed.
Wonderful staff, beautiful grounds and location. The White Elephant Village is in a perfect location on Nantucket, and within walking distance of the downtown area. The grounds are perfect, the front desk staff cordial and knowledgeable, and the rooms are simply over the top.
