How to Get There
Beautiful, clean, staff is very accomodating. Just over one block to all the shops in Nantucket. We went fishing, sailing, visited museums, rented scooters and went to a variety of restaurants. The food at Sea Grill was the best.
I hate giving less than 5 star reviews, especially when a property has so much potential. I gave my feedback in person and through the hotel directly, and never even heard a word back. This sums up exactly the experience you have with the WEV and their staff onsite (with some exceptions).
The hotel has a high occupancy rate (as does the entire island), so if you don't like what you get, it doesn't matter as they can easily fill your reservation with someone else who is willing to stay. This shows almost with everything about this property. The attitudes at the front desk were some of the worst I've ever experienced. Anything you would ask would be your fault or it was like asking them to move a mountain. In-room dining was the same way. You'd think paying a decent amount of money and supporting the hotel would be met with welcoming comments rather than "we're too busy right now, I don't even know if we have time to make your order"
There were highlights of great staff members who did make it an incredible experience such as their bell men and Rachel the concierge. In my opinion, no matter where the demand is, if you are paying $1500-$2000/night for a room there needs to be a high quality of service and welcoming from the staff.
My friend and I stayed at the Residence Inn. We had a two bedroom, two bath unit. It was gorgeous. The living room, dining room, kitchen area were well appointed. The decor superb. The master bath was all in marble. The service was great. The Restaurant and food was really good. Overall I would recommend the White Elephant to any experienced traveler who wants to stay in a top notch place on Nantucket.
We stayed in the village in a 2 bedroom apt and a 3 bedroom apt. Location is great , walking distance to town and kids beach. Master bedroom and master bathroom is large and spacious , but the other bathrooms and bathrooms are small ,no tub in the bathrooms and bathrooms are in need of a major renovation.
For for a “luxury” property where you are pay an exorbitant price equivalent to some of the best resorts n the world, there are a lot of issues. First, there is no free breakfast offered for the price other than a pathetic plate of pastries that were generally offered at the reception area. The best resorts in the world that I stayed included daily free breakfast .
Room service price is crazy expensive
Hotel every day literally puts a hold on your credit card for expenses and security for no reason , the hold varies from $200 up to a $2000 a day . This is absolutely ridiculous! Never heard of this in any 5 star hotel in the world, this never happened to me in any part of the world.
The air conditioning was not working properly , we had to constant call the manager to have it repaired.
Housekeeping never replaced used bathroom amenities .
We requested late check out for both apts but they only granted for one of the apts, totally unnecessary and a huge hassle.
For the exorbitant price that don't even include a free breakfast , the insane daily credit card hold for no reason and a insane cancellation policy you are better off renting a house in town ...
This was our first stop on a month long N American adventure. Family of 4 (boys 11 and 8). We had a 6 night stay.
The location is excellent - just 5 mins walk from the port.
We stayed in a 2 bed apartment that had the red decor rather than the blue which certainly didn’t feel very Nautical and Nantuckety. We asked if we could swap but apparently they couldn’t....slightly annoying but I guess it’s peak season.
Our apartment (Cisco) also looked out onto someone’s back yard - washing lines etc....not what you expect from c$3k per night.
Also the concierge booked us dinner at the lovely Crew on the first night but when we arrived there was no note of it....but we managed to twist an arm and get a 1 hour time slot for dinner.
Overall most of our gripes could be considered first world problems but it’s a very expensive place so it should be better.
Nantucket is great though.
