Great location and reasonably priced (for Nantucket in season)

Right in the middle of it all. The rooms are quaint, although maintenance is suspect and the bathrooms seemed to be designed for very, very small people.

The bikes provided and shuttle service will get you easily to most of the island.

The staff is friendly and accommodating.

There’s a non stop show of beautiful boats.

Very disappointing!

We booked three cottages for a family celebration. My daughter & family had the Three Brothers 2 bedroom unit. Our son and friend were in Sooty (1 Bedroom) and we were in Willet (1 bedroom). None looked liked the pictures on the website. Sooty was claustrophobic and worn. At least Willet had a high ceiling to give more sense of space. Both had a couch, a table & two large chairs in the kitchen/living room area. Both units were dismal with Sooty being the worst.
The safe in the Willet bedroom closet was not usable because the closet door would not open because it hit the bed. The safe was on the floor & you needed a flash light to utilize it if you could get to it.
Fortunately, there was seating outside under a tree at Willet. Not so at Sooty where the seats were out in the sun. I can't imagine what it would be like in bad weather when you would be stuck inside.
Three Brothers was spacious. Fortunately our family could gather there.
We have been to Nantucket many, many times always renting houses or staying in hotels. The last was the White Elephant Residence which was great.
We had always thought the location of the cottages was special & expected them to be of equal standard to the other White Elephant properties.
I made the reservation over the phone and relied on the staff recommendation. Price was not an obstacle. We would have paid more to have made the celebration more comfortable for all the family. One would think when someone is reserving THREE cottages you would receive a little special attention! We have a wonderful & appreciative family but as I titled the review... the Cottages were VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Not worth it

To be clear, this is not our first time staying at a White Elephant property, nor is it our first time staying at the Cottages. We were given the “Sooty” cottage. It did not meet our expectations for a white elephant brand property at all, nor was it worth the price. For starters, our view was half the near-end of the docks and half a field full of giant oil tanks(?). There was no deck. The inside was poorly appointed and lacked a sense of upkeep. It was small and the bathroom ceiling was too low to even blow dry your hair. Looking at the brochures at checkout time was comical because our room looked nothing like that.

I’m not quite sure they accomplished “rustic” as much as dingy.

Next time we will go back to any of the beautiful and well appointed bed and breakfasts Nantucket has to offer

Friendly service and great location

Right on the wharf and in town. Walk to everything which is great. Dog friendly- I mean really dog friendly, they go out of their way to give your dog bowls, a bed and dropped off treats, even a personalized dog tag!
The unit we rented (Zena’s) was very cozy. It had chairs and a table out front. But know that most units do not have a deck or even covered sitting (which is great when it’s raining) as in the units pictured. Maybe request a deck when you book. We booked on very short notice and had a good experience. They even met us at the ferry and carted over our luggage and our daughter on crutches.

Why stay anywhere else

We had a funeral to attend and our booking was made on very short notice. I had requested early check in, as we were arriving within an hour of the event. We were unable to get into our cottage early but the facilities available to shower and change are excellent. We were able to leave our bags and attend the funeral on time. The staff was extremely sympathetic to our needs and the cottage was exceptional. Don’t expect to get an early check in,ever!, as the boat schedule fits to a tee with the check out time. Beautiful and convenient location.
