Harborview Nantucket opened its doors in 2010 as a hybrid between rental-style cottages and a luxury hotel. Located two blocks from Main Street, this waterfront property has Nantucket’s historic charm infused with modern amenities. The 11 eco-friendly cottages are a minimum of 700 square feet (most are more than 1,000) and may include fireplaces, private mahogany terraces with views of the harbor and private gardens. Each unit has a full kitchen with top-of-the line appliances. Lawn games, board games, paddleboards and kayaks are available for outdoor entertainment, as well as coolers, towels, umbrellas and chairs for the private beach. Transportation from the airport or ferry is included with advance notice.
In the Area
Walking the cobblestone streets of downtown Nantucket and exploring the shops and restaurants is a popular pastime, as is a bike ride along the bluffs, which grant outstanding views. On the other side of the island, Madaket Beach is a gorgeous place to linger and watch the sunset or sample the fresh fish tacos at Millie’s — a legend among the locals. A number of tours are available, including Shearwater Excursions for whale watching and harbor ice cream tours — ideal for families. For an off-the-path experience, rent a jeep and go through the dunes to the Great Point Light; it feels worlds away from the mainland hustle and bustle.
How to Get There
We'd still be there if 'life' didn't call us back to reality. First, Nantucket is my sanctuary, my special place. So I'll take it in any season, make any excuse to be there. Over the past 30 years (as mostly summer residents) we've been to Nantucket in the off season several times, sampling a range of accommodations from hotels to B&Bs. This is by far the best we've encountered. It's perfect-- and i don't give that rating lightly, no matter where. We decided to visit ACK over Christmas week--with our dog--so the selection is limited. But this place was far from limited. Upscale, new, clean, beachy yet cozy decor....we loved everything from the comfy sofa to the fleece throws to the large bathrooms to the...
on and on. The view is fantastic...the harbor at sunrise (or any time of day. I just stared out the multiple windows, and imagined the two french doors open wide in better weather. Great beds. Spa-like bathrooms. Full kitchen, lovely large dining table. Washer and dryer. Fireplace! So convenient to town. We've stayed in other dog-friendly accommodations nearby but they were beaten up, cramped, and for some reason our dog hated it (so did we). Not so the Harborview- we were enchanted and felt so at home as soon as we stepped into the rooms. We didn't need any help with ACK arrangements-- but Morag (the manager) and staff were more than willing to offer any assistance we needed. I can't say enough about the Harborview, and you can be sure we'll make any excuse to be back...
My Mom just completed a lengthy stay at Harborview, and I stayed with her for one week. Not always easy to please, Mom was thrilled with her stay there. The staff was wonderful to her, and accommodating to all of her needs.
Of course, what is not to like? You can't find a better location in Nantucket - on the harbor with a private beach, right in town, quiet yet right in the middle of everything. The apartments are modern, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The staff is happy to take care of your wants/needs whenever they can.
Many people ask if they should rent a house or stay at a hotel in Nantucket? Harborview offers the best of both, You have the privacy of your own apartment, but the conveniences of staying at a hotel.
I have owned a home in ACK for decades, so through friends I've experience most of the accommodations. Overall, Harborview has the most to offer. If you want the full Nantucket experience- particularly for a short stay - Harborview is far and away your best choice.
Our family of 8 ranging in age from 7 to 70s had a wonderful time at Harborview.
We were on Nantucket to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and it was all
we hoped it to be and more. We stayed in The Windward which is the largest
of the cottages and is perfect for families. The rooms are all large and the view
is spectacular. We enjoyed the beach, the paddleboards, the kayak and the
champagne - thanks Allison and Lauren and the whole Harborview team!
We visited Nantucket at the very beginning of the season in early June for 3 nights. We are a family of 5 which is always tricky finding connecting/adjoining rooms in hotels (especially the older configurations of the smaller Nantucket hotels). After extensive searching I finally stumbled upon Harborview ..... and what a find! It was perfect for us as the properties are mini-condos/townhouses (depending on which one your choose). The units are all updated in a very tasteful, cottage decor. It was nice having 2 1/2 bathrooms in the units we stayed in. Plus, you either have a deck or a patio which gives you even more space to stretch out and enjoy the view of the water. The beach area has several adirondack chairs, perfect for your morning coffee. Not really a swimming beach but there are many other great choices. The accommodations are well stocked with the essentials and you can even have your fridge stocked (for a small fee). Allison and her crew were very accommodating and attentive. Could not ask for better service. Harborview is very convenient to the downtown (2 minute walk) but far enough away that you are not in the heart of the touristy area. The one negative thing that I wanted to mention is that the hotel is across the street from an industrial lot, which was in drastic contrast to the quaint, charming cottages of Harborview. It did not bother us a bit as our view from the unit was of the water and the courtyard but some visitors might be a bit disappointed at first.
From the moment you arrive you are greeted by Allison who basically will make your stay wonderful with helping you with anything you need. To the beautiful cottages set like jewels nestled along the water with a private beach and the close proximity to walking into the charming village of Nantucket, you instantly feel like you've stumbled on to a very special place. The cottages were gorgeous in their understated elegant beach decor and the beds were so comfortable for sleeping. We wanted for nothing and never wanted to leave! Thank you Allison for making the stay a memorable one and definitely coming back!!!
