How to Get There
We had our wedding reception at the W Boston and it was an incredible experience from the urban, modern hotel decor to the W team, to the food and beverages. No need to upgrade any of the decor because it is all chic and modern. My husband and I did not have a traditional wedding, we got married in a small family ceremony and then met our 120 guests at the W Boston, Mezzanine level for our wedding reception which was basically a big party. We had food for guests from the minute they waled in at 7 PM until they left at Midnight. No seated dinner tables, it was station after station and open seating. We had DJ and open bar all night. BIG SHOULT OUT to our chef who held an amazing menu tasting for us and helped to customize every item on the menu and BIG SHOUT OUT TO our wedding coordinator Brianne who is so so good at what she does. From the moment we met her we knew we were in good hands and she did not miss a single detail. The W also recently renovated all guest rooms so our wedding guests had new updated trendy rooms to stay in. The quality and service of this hotel is unmatched. If you are looking for a 'New York' style not-basic vibe, the W is worth exploring.
Stayed at the W a couple of times now in the past weeks. Both times I booked the Spectacular King room. These rooms are practically new and are well worth the extra cost. Love the decor and views !
Also, the staff and location of the hotel are great and o recommend the W to anyone visiting Boston.
I am impressed. Even during the craziness of marathon weekend the service at the W did not disappoint. Everything was prompt and every single employee was so KIND. The rooms were quite, clean and nice. Beds were comfy. The room service was done at an appropriate time. Check in and out were easy. The Bliss Spa are the products and were great. The best part was they catered to the marathoners. We got nice personalized notes. There was Gatorade and water along w coffee, hot chocolate, bagels and banana out AFTER the race for FREE. There was complimentary runner breakfast. I often find something that bugs me but this place really went above and beyond. While it did not cause an issue there was a DJ in the lobby Saturday night but it would have fun if I could have partied. There was also a runner's recovery lounge with compression recliners. It was a nice touch.
We had previously stayed in W Hotel San Fran and whilst the staff we met were fantastic and the Hotel was lovely, we had items stolen from our room and the response from Starwood Hotels was extremely poor. This trip used compensation points we were given and our cash to top it up.
I have to say from the moment we walked in to when we left we were treated as if we were the only guests at the hotel. We were met by Joe on the desk supported by Julian both of whom could not have been more helpful. They immediately upgraded us to a higher level room and then promised to provide some tips for restaurants taking into account my daughter has coeliac disease. That evening we had a knock at the door and were provided a complementary fruit platter with some confectionary and 2 sides of hand written notes by Joe providing top tips on restaurants with his own experience of eating at them. Superb Service!
The room was fantastic, very spacious for a family of 4 on a short trip to Boston. A slight negative was the fully stocked bar and additional snacks that are very tempting but expensive... I'll forgive them for that especially as there is a 7/11 opposite and a liquor store a 5 minute walk away!
The Hotel is only 1 block from Boston Common and is pretty walkable to everywhere you want to go. We did use Uber quite a bit when we had walked miles. I would also recommend the Duck Tour at the first opportunity for your trip if on vacation to get an insight into the general history and where everything is (and it is fun...)
Uber was only $20 from the airport - Taxi's quote $45 and the Hotel Concierge offered to organise a pick up from $60-120. The airport is only a 15 minute drive from the city - use Uber - they have an easy to find pick up area that is well signposted (covers Lyft as well...)
Would definitely return to the W when we undoubtably return to the city.
Off the beaten shopping path, the W Boston is not as crowded as Copley Square during convention week. We were delighted at the spacious and well appointed rooms. We loved it being close to Back Bay Station, great restaurants and theaters. Breakfast service was super friendly and efficient. I do wish that buffet breakfast was offered.
