How to Get There
Really reasonably priced for the type of hotel. It’s slightly out the centre of Boston but the walk was fine- about 15 minutes to south station where you could connect to anywhere. The area around the hotel is also nice- it seems quite up and coming with lots of choice of restaurants. Transport to and from the airport was really easy and cheap, we used the silver line bus (which can also be used to get into Boston centre).
The rooms were comfortable and clean. We had a good view too on the 15th floor (I think this was lucky though as lower levels views would be blocked by the convention centre). By the ice machines was a cold water/ soda water machine which was free to use which was a good touch.
The lobby and lift areas got very busy with people visiting for a convention but this didn’t really bother us. Staff were friendly but didn’t seem to know the area well- we asked about public buses/ subways and were advised to avoid them but actually we used them and they were really easy. We were also advised to go to the back bay for restaurants etc but there were plenty really near the hotel.
The pool was terrible. Small and echoey, over run with children. There was no space and we couldn’t get in the spa pool as it was full of children! Gym looked quite good but we didn’t use it.
I would stay again if the price stays slightly lower than in the centre of town.
After spending the day in downtown Boston, my son was exhausted. The pictures show us having to wait in line to use the elevator (there are 6). Their excuse was they “had a lot of people checking in at once”. Kids were running up and down the halls screaming until 2am and the adults were incredibly loud. When I attempted to call the front desk, I discovered the phone was broken! I had to use my cell! Nothing was ever done and, needless to say, I never slept. I am so glad I only stayed here for a night.
I lived in Boston for many years and I will never ever stay here again.
Sometimes you can't help being what you are and in this case, of course, its a chain hotel so big and somewhat impersonal. Having said that, it's a lovely hotel with a huge lobby that has a wonderful 'in-lobby' bar, couches, banquettes, chairs plus a Starbucks in-house.
The casual restaurant, Sauciety, serves a great breakfast! Their evening dining restaurant is also lovely with a good, more formal menu.
Rooms are what they should be at a Westin; a decent, comfortable size, clean, super comfortable bedding and a rain shower in the bathtub (no separate shower), good storage, a huge TV... all good.
But for the life of us, we couldn't find the Waterfront anywhere near the hotel. It's also very isolated, so a long walk into the city proper or you're cabbing it everywhere.
I had excellent service here! Forgot some running socks and Kathleen not only found some for me, but with considerable effort had them delivered to my room so I could get a quick workout in! Also, Kenny at the Sauciety restaurant was VERY nice and provided excellent service for an excellent lunch! Thanks Guys!! I’ll be back!
I recently stayed at the Westin for a week attending a conference. The guest room and conference areas were very nice, and I certainly enjoyed my stay there. One of the highlights of the hotel is Ellen, a dedicated concierge who was very helpful to us throughout our stay. Anything from advice and directions for restaurants to help with a tour, Ellen was always there to assist. Thank you!
