How to Get There
We got a great deal from an online reseller, you know, the hot one. We have never stayed inside Boston having been here many times, a long time ago. Back to a visit to locations in New England as a respite from our oven-like temperatures in Florida, this was a pleasant stop. We were way too early for check-in and just wanted to make sure we got the parking info correct by advising the front desk. BTW, the parking they use is immediately past the front entrance so don't miss it. Upon speaking with the front desk, the associate asked us to wait a minute and she would check to see if any rooms were available. Ours was ready and wow did that make a difference. We checked in went to get our luggage, settled in and off we went to explore. We had planned on leaving our stuff and coming back to settle in but this allowed us to stay out for the entire day. The room was spacious (7th floor) and looked out over Huntington Avenue directly from the south entrance to The PRU. Bright and airy, the room was spotless with amenities such as a refrigerator, large screen TV, king bed, large counter top, Keurig with a good variety of pods, several outlets, USB ports and big table. There was a large closet containing robes (we did not use the robes). The bathroom was old school tile with a mirrored wall to give the appearance of being huge despite being average size. Nice touch. Another nice touch was the cute ducky that greeted you as you went into the bathroom. There are only a few minor negatives, such as a noisy air conditioner (after all this is an older hotel) probably because of the style and vent positioning and the outrageous parking fee of $48. Despite these two negatives, for a mid-tow, Back Bay hotel which is very convenient to shopping (nearby Boylston an Newberry as well as Copley Square) and transportation (we walked; even to Faneuil Hall and North End cause that is what we do) this is an excellent choice for a hotel which works hard to keep up with the modern competitors around them.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were definitely impressed with Norman. A true gentleman & asset to The Colonnade Hotel. His job is so vital as a first impression is made of the hotel by interacting with him.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Collanade. Check in was quick and easy with friendly staff on the check in desk. Staff at the door were also friendly and helpful and were able to help with luggage if you needed it.
The was nice, clean and had complimentary bottles of water. Air conditioning worked well, toiletries and souvenir collanade rubber duck in the bathroom were a nice touch!
The hotel has a bar on the roof as well as a swimming pool, although we only went up to use the rooftop bar. Nice views from up there but drinks are a bit pricey we found.
The hotel is a good location, we were able to access the main street by walking through or around the prudential centre. Most of the time we chose to walk through there because we found it quicker and because it's full of shops and restaurants/cafes so more to look at.
We would definitely choose this hotel again if we come back to Boston.
