How to Get There
We spent two nights here the last week of September, 2018. The hotel is located across the street from Faneuil Hall and Quincy’s Market and is a short 2 block walk to the center of the Freedom Trail. In other words, the hotel is the perfect place to stay while visiting the historical part of Boston.
Our large Standard King room had 2 very comfortable queen beds, a desk, easy chair with small table, a coffee maker, fridge and looked out over Quincy’s Market. The bathroom had a extra large shower, single sink and a nice size vanity. Plenty of room for two people to use at the same time. Wi-fi was free and available in the room.
I can’t say enough nice things about the hotel staff, as everyone was fantastic. We never met any of the staff who didn’t greet us with a smile.
We didn’t eat any meals at the hotel, as we bought breakfast from Dunkin‘ Donuts two doors down from the hotel and ate in our room. Lunches and dinners were eaten at the local pubs and restaurants .... great selections just minutes from the hotel.
We definitely enjoyed our stay here and look forward to a return visit.
We stayed here for an overnight so we could see a concert. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and the location were fantastic. We received a $50 certificate towards breakfast and even with that for 4 people it cost total $90. Thought that was a little steep for breakfast. Otherwise everyone was kind and professional
We tried this place twice. And never again. You can hear the music from Hard Rock across the small street until they close (very late). And loud groups until 3 am , i am guessing walking home from the local bars. Doors that lead to out door patios locked. Old and dated. Dark and dingy. Not veery "happy" or inviting lobby. You share a sidewalk with dunkun donuts as well. And management has no idea what customer service is.
I give this property 4 stars based on location alone! Close to so many shops, eateries, TD Garden, historical sites, Freedom Trail, trains, subways...you are in the middle of it ALL. I was VERY surprised to get the rate I did for being this close to everything. I can't imagine another location being better.
The room was nice, maybe not as nice as the pictures, but it was good. Bathroom was especially nice with a huge shower.
The 'historic' view in an 'upgraded' superior room was disappointingly marred by an alley with a huge dumpster and quite a bit of parking and construction - but we weren't really there to look out the window. Just don't know if this particular room was worth the few extra $$ a night based on that.
On Saturday night the 'bass-heavy boom boom' of a local nightclub (in said alley above) went on until 2a. After that it was all quiet. We were across from the elevator on the 5th floor and I never heard it, nor other people in their rooms.
The staff was nice as could be, helpful when you needed it. Check in/out was efficient and pleasant.
Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it heartily for all travelers coming to Boston.
The Bostonian is a really good hotel in a nice central location. The rooms are well appointed with nice bedlinen and a very comfortable bed. There was a nice little balcony for fresh air in most rooms by the look of things. It is not as large as some of the bigger chains of hotel and as a consequence felt a little friendlier and welcoming. Good spot to walk to restaurants and bars too.
