How to Get There
Located in a great spot with plenty of shopping and great dining just a few minute walk away. Fenway Park was an easy Uber ride away although we probably could've walked if we weren't already running late. Rooms were quiet, nice & clean Staff helpful & friendly
First of all, view of Bay was excellent. Second, room was great. Third, the staff rocked we haven’t stayed at a Marriot in a very long time and it didn’t disappoint. There was also a lovely restaurant right off the elevator that does room service and regular meals. That was exceptional. Loved it. Thanks for the great experience.
The best thing about this hotel is location. The river is just a few blocks away. Ideal for a walk or run. Much of the area is residential. Back Bay subway station is a short walk away as well.
The hotel itself is nice, if a little crowded all the time (I was there during the national Mayors' convention). Got a room on the concierge floor, but it was small by American standards. The concierge lounge is small but has a reasonable selection (note that the lounge is an "honest lounge" -- you are supposed to record your alcohol consumption in the lounge and charges will be added to your bill!)
You know what to expect. Functional and all works but just a bit dated and feeling out of step with some of the more modern offerings from the city. The bathroom makes me feel prison or room at Disney, no flair or touch to make it feel slightly special. The room is fine but again, no nice touches. The elevator is hilarious. You have to figure it out. It must have been conceived in the 1980s. Staff perfectly lovely and nice and attentive, bar was actually good and if watching sport as you drink is your thing perfect. If you want a reasonably priced option not to far from the action and the very excellent Boston Duck Tour its good. Plenty big and lots of rooms but it’s in the solid and not spectacular camp.
I encountered wonderful employees throughout my weeklong stay. The room was average. The bathroom was small. Housekeeping did a great job. The concierge lounge was mediocre. Lots of carbs at evening reception. But the employees were fantastic. The elevators were extremely slow.
I would stay there again. But I would have lower expectations.
