Grand waterfront manor house on Maryland’s Eastern shore with an aristocratic air and Chesapeake Bay views
Staying here feels like an elegant journey to an earlier era. The overstuffed couches, antique chests, Audubon prints, French doors and terraces are pure romance. Off in the distance, fishing vessels trawl for the Chesapeake’s famed oysters and crabs, and sailboats skim across the river—both experiences available to guests. Throughout the winter, the fireplaces blaze while guests settle into the couches for afternoon tea before retreating to one of 78 rooms, which have the air of a 19th-century English country home with their polished hardwood floors, carved wood bed frames, and floral touches from bedspreads to curtains shading windows that look out onto the manicured waterfront lawns or the Miles River. During the day, you can pop into a local tavern for steamed crabs while cruising the art galleries, farmers markets or antique stores in St. Michaels or nearby Oxford and Easton. Better yet, head to the property’s Linden Spa and indulge in the signature Linden Ritual treatment—a wrap of local flowers, sage, blackberries, eucalyptus, and rosemary. For dinner, visit the inn’s Stars restaurant for artisanal cheeses, local oysters and other seasonal seafood dishes.
In the Area
You can tuck in for the weekend and never leave the estate, with its gardens, Chesapeake Bay views and crackling fireplaces. But if you do, there’s more charm outside, from the sailboats passing by to the scenic colonial town of St. Michaels. Explore the area’s maritime history at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, browse Washington and Harrison streets in Easton, where antique shops and boutiques abound. Or the head to the Academy Art Museum, home to a permanent collection of more than 1,000 pieces of European and American works on paper.
How to Get There
The setting along the water is beautiful. Everything about this inn is exceptional. The staff is friendly and outgoing and truly want you to enjoy your stay.
Our lovely king room had an inviting fireplace lit upon our arrival. Our view was gorgeous overlooking the bay which allowed for a glorious sunrise view each morning.
A calendar of events are posted each day. The spin class and yoga class were both excellent. The instructors personable and well trained.
We were there for a family wedding and everyone enjoyed the setting and amenities.
The decor is transitional and with just enough maritime that allows for sophistication and comfort.
We visited the Inn at Perry Cabin for a family wedding and felt that we were the bride and groom given the pampering we received. Top drawer everything--from gorgeous rooms, to beautiful spaces designed to relax and enjoy, to the amazing breakfast , drinks and snacks we had (the oysters!!)--to the perfect job they did with the wedding, the reception and dinner. Flawless. Save up and treat yourself.
This hotel was just what we needed after a harrowing summer. My husband and I wanted a weekend away to relax and just enjoy ourselves without the kids and this place delivered. The room was well appointed (with a view of the water), the food was amazing, the wine sommelier was delightful and made great recommendations, the day sail was relaxing, the spa was spot on, and I could go on and on.... but I won't because it was hard enough getting a reservation!
