How to Get There
The location is beautiful and the rooms were clean and well furnished. However the provided water bottles were only half full and I asked for an extra towel ( we only had two for three people) that never got delivered. Check in and out was good.
Our recent stay here was littered with disappointments. I am not using the word 'littered' figuratively either.
We arrived on a Friday afternoon well after the check in and waited at least 30 mins to check in at the front desk. After dragging our bags up to our room ourselves (no bell service...no available luggage carts) we exited the elevator to a hallway littered with uncollected room service trays on the floor, unattended housekeeping bins full of dirty linen, and an oppressive temperature. Combine those three things together and you get an unfortunate smell that was off putting, at best.
Our room was on the marina side on the 4th floor which is the same level as the roof with AC units and fans. Nothing picturesque but whatever. It's only worth mentioning if you have expectations of a view.
In the past (and we have stayed here many times) we have eaten breakfast downstairs at Pusser's. It's size and easy access made it a no brainer especially when you've got a full day. Unfortunately both attempts to breakfast downstairs on this trip were stopped dead by the stench of vomit. I get that the place has a very active bar scene at night but no way were we ordering eggs in a place that smelled like someone had just thrown up 3 hours before. Also, the bathrooms off the hallway leading to the restaurant were never clean. Spilling over trash, empty toilet paper, water all over the floor at 9am? At 3pm? Really?
When we came back from breakfast and a walk around town around 1pm, our rooms were not yet made up (despite the request on the door from 9am that morning) The 3 of us had to shower and change to make an afternoon engagement and we find there is no hot water in the hotel. When I went downstairs to talk to the front desk I was told my name would be put on a list for recompense. I have yet to hear of anything.
The location of this hotel is the only 4 star characteristic of this hotel and for that you pay hugely. I sincerely doubt we will stay here again because location is not everything.
After reading the reviews I decided it was worth paying a premium to stay at the the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. I was horribly disappointed. Although the location is excellent the rooms fall way short of expectations. We arrived late tired and hungry. Threw our bags in the room and went down to the restaurant for a quick bite. As soon as we walked into the room we noticed a very strong cigarette odor. We debated going back to the front desk but decided to tough it out. Later as we went to bed the odor just seemed worse. My wife's eye's were swollen and I was extremely congested. It was bothering my 8 year old son as well. Up until now I was only blaming myself for not saying something immediately. Both my wife and I don't like to complain. I decided to call the Front Desk to make them aware of the situation. I spoke to a nice young man named Ryan who was very understanding. He said he would move us but I said it was late and we opted to tough it out but would move the next day. I did ask to have the Hotel Manager call me. The next day we woke unrested and feeling lousy. I stopped by the front desk and again asked if I could speak to the Hotel Manager and left my cell number. While we were out, housekeeping called and said they put an air purifier in our room and we should be fine. I found that unacceptable and asked again to speak to the manager at which point they agreed to move us. The new was clean and smoke free. When I checked out in the morning I once again asked to speak to the manager and left my number again. It's now been four days since my first message.
Now this is the thing. I wanted to speak to someone in a position of authority to ask one question. How can you not be aware that a room a very obvious smoke smell? Frankly I think they knew and figured they'd give it a shot.
In any case, stay away from Rm #221 unless you're a smoker. If you rent a double room you get full beds not queen size. That may be fine for some but I wouldn't consider that "luxury". More than anything I'm disappointed I never heard back from the manager. I was never disrespectful or angry toward anyone at the hotel. Maybe I wanted to vent and share my disappointment with someone that could prevent it from happening to someone else.
Very nice hotel and great location. A beautiful town. Room was first class and staff was friendly. Restaurant in hotel was nice but turns into a night club atmosphere at night on weekends. Other than that great hotel.
This is a charming hotel in downtown Annapolis. Walking distance to historic area, waterfront, great restaurants and shops. The staff were very accommodating. We highly recommend it!
We stopped here on our way to Cape May NJ.
