How to Get There
My husband and I planned a last minute trip to Martha's Vineyard, we scored a cute cozy king room at the Sydney! It was so elegant and beautiful! The host was accommodating (let us store our bikes in the shed). The breakfast was delicious. It is very convenient to shops and places to eat! A little pricey but worth it!
My husband and I spent only one night at The Sydney. Our room had a nice view of the harbour and overlooked quaint shops on the street below. Check in was easy and unique, not having actually seen anyone who works at the hotel. We were left yummy treats in the afternoon and the basket breakfast left outside our door in the morning exceeded our expectations!! I would highly recommended this hotel! I hope to go back again and spend more time on the island.
The Sydney in Edgartown is in a prime spot. It has rooms above one of the most exclusive restaurants on the island. Our room was quaint with many thoughtful touches. It had home baked cookies in the entryway, an adorable crated breakfast delivered to our door in the morning. We were even invited to a fire pit at the Christopher down the street for a fire pit. We chose to grab a bottle of wine instead and enjoy it on the circular porch and people watch. Verycentrally located. You'll love it.
We stayed at the Sydney on a recent trip to Cape Cod & Martha's Vineyard. The room was outstanding, with a king bed, a view of Water Street activity and a sliver of the bay, a fine bathroom and plenty of space. The trick to the Sydney is that the staff resides at another facility, so you will find your key and information when you arrive and go to your room. We loved this B&B and we loved the restaurant (see separate review). One piece of advise: leave your car on the Cape and take a taxi or the bus to your hotel. You don't need a car or the pain of traffic on Martha's Vineyard. Public transit is the way to go.
Our first time staying at The Sydney and had a wonderful time. While the Inn had all the exterior charm of a classic Victorian house, the rooms were modern with all the amenities to make our stay comfortable. The staff was so helpful and surprised us with a chilled bottle of Proseco for my birthday which we enjoyed on the Adirondike chairs on the front lawn. We stayed in room #3, bright cheery room with a decent size bathroom. Loved the breakfast basket that was left on our front door in the mornings. L'Etoile restaurant connected to the Inn was amazing- we ate at the bar twice!! Will definitely return!!
