A laid-back tropical stay at a classic island retreat boasting a private beach and a full-service marina
You’re on island time the minute you set foot on Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour Marina – a Bahamian institution since 1955. Situated on the eastern shore of Great Abaco island, this iconic retreat is also flanked by one of the largest full-service marinas and yacht slips in the area, making it easily accessible via sea and air, thanks also to an international commercial and private airport less than ten minutes away.
But it's not just the location that has guests coming back time and time again for their tropical fix. This laid-back property leaves a lasting impression thanks to its waterfront surroundings – think 40 acres of lush tropical landscape, private beach access (with beach cabanas), fitness center, and a plethora of activities on offer, including diving and deep-sea fishing. Throw an upscale, locally inspired restaurant into the mix, and a swim-up pool bar with frozen drinks at the ready, and you have all the makings of a perfect island getaway.
The property includes 89 beach-chic rooms and suites, all awash in a clean, neutral palette. Located in the quiet southwestern corner of the property, one floors one through four, Oceanfront and Superior Oceanfront rooms measure 410 square feet. The former has a sitting area with a desk, while the latter has a sitting area with a sofa. Deluxe Oceanfront rooms, meanwhile, are found on the first and second floors in the eastern wing of the main building, with a sofa.
Would you like an umbrella with that frozen cocktail? The swim-up Pool Bar has refreshing drinks on hand, not to mention live entertainment. For a more upscale affair, head to Angler’s, where fresh seafood and local flavors rule the menu. Look for the likes of Abaco grouper and lobster, served in an elegant atmosphere, accompanied nightly by the music of a local vocalist.
The hotel is within five minutes of Marsh Harbour International Airport – a 50-minute flight from Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Miami. Situated on the eastern shore of Great Abaco Island, it’s also just a hop, skip and a jump via ferry to nearby islands and cays, including Hope Town and Man-O-War Cay. Downtown Marsh Harbour and the ferry dock are just one mile away.
