The Review

More lush and spread out than most lodging options in Marrakech, the Pavillon du Golf is a true resort — something you don’t find too often in these parts. As its name implies, the Pavillon is all about golfing at the prestigious Palmeraie Golf Club nearby. This Robert Trent Jones, Sr. masterpiece, one of the top courses in Morocco, offers up cheap caddies and stupendous views of the snowcapped Atlas Mountains.

The 27-hole par 72 course and its 9-holes par 36 extension were made from more than 5 million cubic feet of earth, most of which was transported here, including grass imported from the U.S. A few other five-star resorts line the course, but the Pavillon du Golf is by far the most exclusive and understated.

I feel a million miles away from the chaotic hubbub of Marrakech, even though I know I’m just a 15-minute taxi ride from the famous downtown marketplace. Sure, the whole place may feel a bit manufactured, not authentically Moroccan, but the spaciousness and the laid-back resort vibe will be a welcome respite from Marrakech’s all-up-in-your-face atmosphere.

The 44 rooms are more like minisuites, each with a living room, a balcony, and a vast bathroom. The salmon-colored buildings lead to interiors that feature wood-beam ceilings, beds with shiny drapes, and Moroccan tables and rugs. Internet, satellite TV, and 24-hour room service are all included.

The resort’s excellent Dar Ennassim restaurant is run by Fabrice Vulin, a member of the Académie Culinaire de France and a proud holder of two Michelin stars. You can dine by candlelight at the pool, where crisscross tile work leads to an impressive pavilion that stands stoically at one end, complete with Arab arches and latticework.

The doormen are dressed like Arabian knights in headdresses and robes, and the European guests (mostly French) are typically basking by the pool topless in between rounds. For a desert oasis mixed with tee times, it’s hard to conjure up anything more serene.

My stay was really wonderful. The rooms were clean. The gardens are very heavenly. The staff were helpful and friendly. In particular I'd like To mention Mr Rachid the receptionist. He provided me with All the help you need. All in all, Pavillion du Golf is a nice place to spend a holiday.

Fantastic service and very polite and helpful employees. The only reason I’ve not given a 5* is that there is nowhere to get food or drink before the evening. Other than that, we were very well looked after, especially by Abdul from reception - very nice man. Would recommend.

Clenless... bathroom was not clean at all. Even there was not toilet paper and the mirror in the bath was falling down alone, no electricity in the bedroom so the moved a little table spot from the livingroom to the bedroom. and no wifi. Breakfast also is not a good deal. I hope that the hotel will make some new goal to clean better and make this really noce place a perfect place to be in holiday.
