Les 5 Djellabas
What We Love
- Rate includes ground airport transfers, free WiFi, daily breakfast (of a Moroccan or international menu) and VAT
- Sprawling olive grove gardens romantically lit by lanterns at night
- The exotic, traditional-meets-contemporary architecture and design of the property by Thierry Isnardon
- A long slate-blue swimming pool framed by palm trees
- Ten independent bungalows, complete with four-poster beds, fireplaces and roll-top baths with views of the garden
- There’s no spa or hammam, but in-room and alfresco beauty and massage treatments are available
What To Know
- For guests who book three nights or more, the rate includes one return transfer from the city center
- Top-level golf is one of the big draws of Les Cinq Djellabas, but it’s not on the doorstep — guests have access to five courses (ranging from 18 to 24 holes) located 20 to 45 minutes away by car
- Better suited to couples looking to escape from reality for a few days than families with kids
- Being outside the Palmeraie proper, you are somewhat isolated, so you’ll need to rent a car or rely on local taxi or car services to get around
- Top-flight cooking combines traditional Moroccan dishes with lighter European options, but the menu is fairly small
- Free WiFi
- Parking On Site

How to Get There
This is our very favourite hotel in Morocco, we can’t resist coming here at least once a year. The staff are charming and can’t do enough for you. The food is exquisite and the gardens and swimming pool just gorgeous. We are counting down the days to our next visit later in the year.
We have had a fantastic stay at Les Cinq Djellabas. If you’re searching for an oasis of calmness and serenity from the dazzling Medina, this is the place to be.
The location is not too far from the Medina and transfers are swiftly taken care of. The hotel staff is very generous and courteous .
A very pleasant experience !
A relaxing oasis just outside of Marrakech. The huts were absolutely beautiful, the grounds very relaxing and serene, and the staff friendly and nice.
Tiny improvements to be made to make it truly excellent: pool beds are flat divans, which can get quite uncomfortable; I personally prefer sitting up and reading/enjoying the view. The robes/towels were not the quality expected of a luxurious hotel, the robes in particular had food stains on them when we arrived!
The wifi is quite poor and keeps cutting out (but we were told that they had tried different solutions and none worked unfortunately).
The variety on the menu can be improved; perhaps a few more salads and light lunch dishes would be nice (not a problem if you are staying a short while).
We absolutely loved our stay, and would definitely go back; I think what dampened our experience was the fact that we left some items in the hotel upon checking out, and when we went back to retrieve them, they had disappeared! We have on previous occasions left items, even valuables in 4/5* hotels, and all have been wonderful in keeping the items safe and ensuring they get back to us safely. We were quite disappointed when the same did not apply to Le Cinq Djellabas. Obviously it is our fault for forgetting our items, but trust and reliability are essential in making a hotel truly excellent and somewhere people would want to return to.
Marrakech is a historic, exotic and vibrant city, attracting curious and discerning travellers, seeking history and adventure amid the bustling souks, hidden riads and stylish bars.
This short break however was always going to be foremost about rest and relaxation. We wanted a hotel that had a great reputation but wasn't slap bang in the middle of the city. I needed to get my head out of the London fog to somewhere peaceful and tranquil, but with the ability to head to the city centre when we wanted to.
The 4 night stay started with our driver dropping us off and being warmly welcomed to the property.
There are 10 individual lodge style accommodations on site (5 deluxe suites and 5 suites) and in advance I had requested a lodge furthest away from the main building, with a claw foot tub. Room 5 (deluxe) was our abode for the next 5 days.
The thatched roof circular rooms are spacious with a slightly colonial romantic feel and well appointed. Please note there are no tea and coffee making facilities, or iron. You probably don't need them in any case. Each lodge does have a warm fluffy robe and slippers each. The toiletries are plentiful.
The swimming pool is the focal point of the site with a lounge and restaurant to the side.
The restaurant did not disappoint. I had had read reports that the menu was limited, but I couldn't agree with that. The only thing you need to get your head around is ordering your meal in advance, by a set time, but once you get into the flow of things it's not that difficult.
We could not fault the lamb tagine or the pastilla as main courses. Our was favourite dessert was the pistachio creme brulee with chocolate ice-cream. The quality of the food is excellent.
We were very fortunate with the weather to be able to dine al fresco every morning at breakfast. My husband gave the offering 10 out of 10, served by friendly attentive staff. The pastries were fresh and delicious. Our special daily order of a cheese omelette, cooked well.
There's not much to do on site except for swim. I took my Pilates DVD to take advantage of our in room player. We also took a selection of books and our chess set to while away the hours pre Gin o'clock, if not out exploring.
Excursions can be booked either through David or other members of staff, including taxis. This place is in the middle of nowhere off a dirt road, so be warned that you won't be walking anywhere. That shouldn't put you off. This resort is where adults recharge their batteries.
Lastly to all the staff at the hotel: thank you for your warm welcome and for your unfailing assistance. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt relaxed and pampered as a result. We will definitely be back very soon!!
We could not have found a better place to stay in Marrakesh. This hotel is absolutely charming. We stayed in our own private hut. It was super romantic and the interior design was beautiful. The property is gorgeous and the staff went over and above to make sure our stay was absolutely wonderful. We can't wait to come back again very soon.
