A verdant oasis of calm away from the bustle of central Marrakech, Domaine des Remparts Ryad Hotel Spa & Golf Resort’s cluster of one-story, terracotta-colored pavilions is grouped around a spacious outdoor swimming pool, green lawns and pretty date palms.
Dominated by a breathtaking Atlas Mountains backdrop, this is a place where it’s easy to savor peace and relaxation among five-star luxury. Interiors follow a desert-toned theme, complemented by dark woods and set off by strategically placed designer accessories. There’s a cocoon-like spa and roomy restaurant, so you can easily pass a lazy day here in between city sightseeing.
Painted in delicious light and dark chocolate hues, Junior suites have striking arched fireplaces and their own private covered terrace and garden. You’ll be able to take your pick from views of either the pool or gardens.
The Asian-inspired restaurant serves traditional Moroccan cuisine packed with Eastern spices, served up in slick high-ceilinged surroundings. There’s a cheery log fire during the winter months. At lunchtime, you can dine al fresco at the shady Le Grill by the pool.
With its candles, incense and flower petals, the spa makes a welcome respite. Cocoon-like treatment rooms offer soothing Nectarome plant oil massages. After you’ve enjoyed the Berber hammam, you could have a volcanic clay wrap or black soap scrub.
The hotel is only two and a half miles from the frenetic heart of Marrakech, in the flat, palm-filled Palmeraie area. The hotel gardens themselves are lush and green, and the lack of surrounding buildings means there are sweeping views over to the often snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Golf enthusiasts can take a break from haggling in the medina by letting it all go on the Royal and Almelkis golf courses, five minutes away by car. Two hours will take you to the beaches of Agadir and the legendary town of Casablanca.
How to Get There
From the moment we arrived (when we were met by Achouak Chakib ) we were made to feel special. Perfumed candles and delicious fruit drink. Our room was beautiful, so peaceful and comfortable. The dining room was a pleasure to sit in, the food delicious. We will certainly be returning, and have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel.
I was initially hesitant about staying Domaine Des Remparts, since it is in the Palmeries and away from the action of the Medina, but it is exactly what we needed after 25 hour journey from Australia to Morocco. The hotel is wonderful, the design, the interiors, the gardens, the pool are all beautiful. The hotel is like an oasis in the desert, lusciously green with a sparkling inviting aqua pool lined with gorgeous lime green sunbeds. Its the little touches like the vibrant luscious flowers on tables throughout the gardens, the fireplace in the morning at breakfast and the cool tent in the garden - that make this perfect! The rooms have recently been renovated/ spruced up, and are spacious & well appointed. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with a vast array of choices, with made to order eggs and Moroccan specialities such as their local pancake selection (highly recommend!). There are only a few downsides, but I am being particularly fussy by outlining these- because in its entirety the hotel is outstanding. Firstly, it is a 150MAD cab each way to the city, whilst the hotel does have a shuttle I never saw this. The staff mostly only speak French, with broken English. Finally our room smelled of fresh paint & plaster which was rather off-putting, but probably due to our room recently being spruced up - so I’m sure it was just a one-off thing. If I visit Marrakech again, I would 100% visit this hotel, giving it 5/5 stars and highly recommend.
This hotel changed ownership a couple of month ago, the new owner is very dynamic and has great ideas to make this hotel a great place. Nice and big rooms with fireplace looking towards the beautiful garden and the swimming pool. Fitness room with nice equipment. Breakfast is really nice and staff is very friendly and looking after your comfort. Large swimming pool with sun chairs.
We had a really lovely stay for 5 nights. It is about 20 minutes to Marrakech, you can rent a car at the hotel or use the shuttle (3 trip/day to Marrakech).
