A verdant oasis of calm away from the bustle of central Marrakech, Domaine des Remparts Ryad Hotel Spa & Golf Resort’s cluster of one-story, terracotta-colored pavilions is grouped around a spacious outdoor swimming pool, green lawns and pretty date palms.
Dominated by a breathtaking Atlas Mountains backdrop, this is a place where it’s easy to savor peace and relaxation among five-star luxury. Interiors follow a desert-toned theme, complemented by dark woods and set off by strategically placed designer accessories. There’s a cocoon-like spa and roomy restaurant, so you can easily pass a lazy day here in between city sightseeing.
Painted in delicious light and dark chocolate hues, Junior suites have striking arched fireplaces and their own private covered terrace and garden. You’ll be able to take your pick from views of either the pool or gardens.
The Asian-inspired restaurant serves traditional Moroccan cuisine packed with Eastern spices, served up in slick high-ceilinged surroundings. There’s a cheery log fire during the winter months. At lunchtime, you can dine al fresco at the shady Le Grill by the pool.
With its candles, incense and flower petals, the spa makes a welcome respite. Cocoon-like treatment rooms offer soothing Nectarome plant oil massages. After you’ve enjoyed the Berber hammam, you could have a volcanic clay wrap or black soap scrub.
The hotel is only two and a half miles from the frenetic heart of Marrakech, in the flat, palm-filled Palmeraie area. The hotel gardens themselves are lush and green, and the lack of surrounding buildings means there are sweeping views over to the often snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Golf enthusiasts can take a break from haggling in the medina by letting it all go on the Royal and Almelkis golf courses, five minutes away by car. Two hours will take you to the beaches of Agadir and the legendary town of Casablanca.
How to Get There
An unforgettable experience.. If I you are looking for a quiet retreat, yet only 15 minutes away from the city center, this is the place. I visited the Hotel with my girlfriend and planned my proposal with the staff in advance. They have exceeded my expectations and gave us a truly memorable time. They are helpful in every way and give their best to fulfill your every wish. I will absolutely come back. Even the smallest rooms are bigger than other hotels biggest. The mattresses are fantastic, we have rarely slept that good. Maybe only in Four Seasons Hotels. All in all simply fantastic.
The hotel, well, it's not really like any hotel you have seen. First of all, it's entrance is fenced off, well protected by a large gate and surrounding wall but on the inside it is so peacefull and quite. The hotel lobby is more something you'll find in some romantic movie far far away. The rooms are all suites; meaning large bathroom, large closets, minibar (no coffee or tea) and a large living room / bedroom. The pool is spacious and long, beds are sometimes plentyfull (depending on the occupancy) with embrallas. The staff is really helpfull, the hotel's taxi drivers really friendly. The only downside is the very, very small breakfast they serve. If you a french or italian, it's more than enough, but if you're used to large european style breakfasts, well, this one is going to be dissapointing. Also to be noted, the hotel is roughly 20 minutes away from djemaa el fna/downtown. The hotel offers its own taxi for +/- 11 euro (120 Dirham) to go one way. The price from downtown to the hotel is +/- 10 euro (100 dirham). Please note that the taxis in Marrakech do not have meters and are always trying to overcharge passengers.
- Amazing rooms
- Excellent for golfers
- Great service from both the staff and the owner
- Pool (+ beds etc)
- Small, poor breakfast
We enjoyed a relaxing 6 night break at the hotel des remparts. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious with lovely bathrooms although the towels are somewhat tatty.
We got the feeling that the season was just starting and the hotel just waking up - the gardeners had just arrived and so it was pretty noisy one or twice but their efforts were rewarded as the gardens are lovely.
The pool was very cold but refreshing and is really lovely space to relax around.Trying to get a towel was fairly slow going so I suggest you keep your towel after day 1 ;)
The breakfast buffet is nice but feels a little samey after a few days and i think it would be nice if there was maybe a local delicacy each day but there again I always thing making breakfast interesting is a challenge!
The lunch time pool side food is great - the "starters" are as big as the "mains" so don't be fooled as you will only need one course.
The evening food is nice but there was the same menu the whole time we were there. But it is an easy taxi or transfer into town so I suggest dining outside of the hotel.
We used the spa once and it was nice but nothing special.
Service wise - on the whole the intention is good even if they are slightly inept / slow at times. The staff all say good morning but I woudn't describe the vibe as particualrly friendly.
My only annoyance was on our final day when we had ordered a taxi for the airport which did not arrive and caused us some delay but we made the flight just in time so......
We were wanting a quiet relaxing break and that is what we got however I am a bit surprised that there wasn't even any question from the reception as to if they could help in anyway, organise trips or restaurants etc but there again we are pretty self sufficient so maybe they just left us to it.
A very pleasant and great hotel to stay for both pleasure (golf, family, couple) and business. Dinners, rooms, and the services are remarkable. Free wifi in rooms would be much appreciated though. Access to golfs and the nearby city is facilitated through shuttles or similar at competitive price.
We already stayed on several occasions in this very charming hotel, and this last experience left us very satisfied, even more than usually.
Probably due to the combination of a new female manager, charming, professional and reactive, and owner being more hands-on and visible than in the past.
This makes a difference, because hospitality is first and foremost about building relationships with guests.
Located in the Palmeraie, only minutes away from some of Marrakech best golf courses, this lovely boutique hotel is a perfect hideaway for golfers and non-golfers alike.
We'll be back!
