How to Get There
I stayed in the white room for a few nights recently. Wow - I have not slept like that for years! The room was so dark and peaceful at night. Lovely shower and bath as well
Ahmed was amazingly hospitable and seemingly always at hand.
Ilyass was a great help finding my way through the little windy streets of the old medina.
It’s a perfect place to go and switch off. Lovely light breakfast and great restaurants nearby.
I’ll definitely be back
We stayed at Dar Seven for 3 nights earlier this month and everything was perfect. Pick up from the airport and train station was on time, I arrived first and was immediately offered a seat, tea and biscuits, leaving me to relax after a long journey and admire the beautiful interior of the Riad while our host, Ahmed, was taking care of checking me in. He then walked me to the elegant and quiet room, where I felt at home immediately. My husband arrived later that evening and was offered the same warm welcome.
We were escorted to and back from dinner that night and were offered the same throughout our stay. We were also given a local phone in case we needed help, which we didn’t have to use but was a great way to make us feel confident about exploring the medina.
Breakfast of our choice was served every morning (at the time of our choice) in the little extension to our room facing the center of the Riad (which felt like having a private living room), and was delicious. We went for a selection of eggs, fruits and local « crepes » which were to die for. My personal favourite was the meloui, and I miss it already!
All in all, the experience was one of the best I have had and ranks above some 5 star hotels I have been to, but I would say that what truly set Dar Seven apart, is the quality of the service.
Ahmed and Iliass were fantastic, from the pickup on arrival, to the very last moments, they made sure that we had everything we needed: offered to walk us to the souk, walk us back, offered suggestions of dinner and showed us the way, offered tea at any time of the day, but more importantly were extremely kind and made us feel at home throughout our stay. A genuine smile goes a long way.
I strongly recommend staying at Dar Seven, and will most certainly be back.
As a matter of course we usually plan our accommodations 6 months in advance minimum. Marrakech was no exception. As always, our criteria as a starting point, are small boutique design hotels with great design style, service, exceptional traveller reviews and are ideally located.
Dar Seven flies so far under the radar we feel fortunate we found it. To be honest, it was not our first choice, but likely our seventh or eighth choice. Due to the amount of rooms in the smaller riads, six months advance booking was apparently too late for many of our selections. And….therefore,
we are so glad we were late to the party!!
Like many of the smaller boutique riads located in the medina, Dar Seven is located behind a non-descript entrance protected by thick enclosing walls accessed through a maze-like labyrinth of tiny alleyways and streets. Here, however, it is at the dead end of a dark, mysterious rose colored alleyway. Once inside, it is stunning and elegant, and worth every bit of suspense and excitement. Our loggia room was fabulous, as were breakfasts, mint tea and cookies at any hour. More important than the beauty of the Riad was the welcome we received from Ahmed and Iliass. They run the ship and they were amazing! Without them our trip would not have been as memorable as it was. They treated us like family and nothing was too difficult for them day or night. We travel a lot and value service and positive attitude more than anything. They made sure we were always safe (a local mobile is given to each guest ) in finding our way and returning home by accompanying us, arranging for transport, or picking us up and walking us back to the Riad at any hour. I can not imagine that a single one of my original top seven choices for lodging would come close to the exceptional service we received. We feel lucky that Dar Seven was under the radar for us, but if you want an authentic Marrakech experience, look no further.
We looooved our stay at Dar Seven! This beautiful Riad is tucked away from the noisy Medina and the busy streets. Once you arrived Ahmed and Illias will pamper you in a way difficult to find somewhere else. We highly recommend this place.
Beautiful small riad (inn) in the old Medina of Marrakech, well appointed and serviced. WIFI, breakfast and snacks prepared in house, and air conditioning in rooms. We were booked here by our guide service upon our arrival, and we chose to stay here again when we returned for our departure. There is a short walk to the closest street with car or taxi access, but that serves to remove you from the noise of the ever present autos and motorcycles. Very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
