Offering discerning travelers a homely vibe in the heart of Marrakech, the boutique Dar Hanane is the perfect blend of warm hospitality and traditional Moroccan style. Tucked away from the busy street markets, in one of the city’s oldest districts, the riad boasts an excellent location, making sightseeing on foot all too easy. It also features the highest terrace in the neighborhood – perfect for an evening meal or an afternoon drink. Here, you can snuggle up on the cozy seating and enjoy a 360-degree view of the city and the Atlas Mountains beyond.
The real highlight, though, is the beautifully restored riad itself, full of charming original features. You can enjoy a mint tea in one of the intimate seating alcoves on the tree-filled patio, with chirping birds and splashing water fountains providing the soundtrack to your stay. Elsewhere, the elegant ground-floor salon offers comfy seating around an open fireplace, while its second-floor counterpart boasts a high domed ceiling that’s open to the skies – perfect for stargazing with something refreshing from the honesty bar.
The décor here blends traditional Moroccan style with contemporary chic, making for an eye-pleasing combination. The Beldi Room is cozy but comfortably furnished, featuring a four-poster bed and an en-suite shower. For more space, upgrade to one of the individually designed Superior rooms.
Start the day off right with a full Moroccan breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice, hot drinks, yogurt, fruit and a selection of bread and crepes with honey and jam. You can choose to take your meal on the tree-filled patio, in the elegant salon or on the terrace, surrounded by 360-degree views. Light lunches, omelets and salads are available on request, and three-course Moroccan dinners are freshly prepared each day to order.
Hammam, massage and beauty treatments can be booked in the hotel’s sister property, Riad Tzarra, just around the corner.
History, culture, cuisine and entertainment are just some of the reasons Marrakech is one of the world’s most exciting cities. Dar Hanane is perfectly positioned for exploring everything the city has to offer, with its central location in the Kaat Benahid neighborhood, right in the heart of the Medina. The riad is just a five-minute walk from the Museum of Marrakech, the beautiful and history-rich Medersa Ben Youssef and the entrance to the city’s infamous souks, where you can discover bargains aplenty. The hotel is also just a 12-minute walk from the cultural extravaganza that is Jemaa el-Fnaa, an exhilarating market square with everything from freshly squeezed juice to snake charmers. The city’s lavish palaces should also be high on your list; you can reach Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace and the Royal Palace within 25 minutes or less on foot.
How to Get There
Mohamed and his staff at Dar Hanane went out of their way to make our family visit really comfortable, but more importantly, authentic, beginning with a great location within the Marrakech Médina, this Riad connects you with the flavor and people of Old Marrakech. He took the time to talk to us daily to go over our plans, draw maps for us, (essential when in the Médina for the first time before our guide joined us) make recommendations on where to find the best goods at fair prices or where to eat. He was an essential part of our tour of Marrakech. The Riad itself is beautiful! Caringly restored and incredibly comfy. You feel like you are staying in a palace! The rooftop terrace was fabulous for evening wine and breakfast, which was local and scrumptious daily. We were two adults traveling with our 18 year old daughter and the trip planned by Alecia Cohen of Travel Excursions Morocco 🇲🇦 Private Tours, connected us with wonderful Riads like Dar Hanane!
Mohammed and his staff were generous, knowledgeable and provided a home-from-home experience within this glorious riad. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was exceptional, pre-book their evening meal on the terrace is a mus and the breakfasts were a delight. Service was always with a smile. Mohammed is a gem of a manager, ensuring our holiday was a great success.
Words can’t describe my level of appreciation for the service that was
provided to me during a week long stay at Dar Hanane. I booked this riad on a gut feeling after reading a few reviews. My gut feeling proved correct. From the moment I made my reservation I was contacted by the team at Pure Riads and offered services such as an airport transfer and received recommendations on things to do. I was met at the airport by a driver who was holding a sign that said Dar Hanane. I was then whisked away to the riad. The riad is located in a section of the Medina with alleys much too small for cars. I was dropped off at a common pick up/drop off area near the riad. Another young man was there waiting with a luggage cart. My bag was put in the cart and I was led to the riad. I was met by the night manager who really single handedly made my stay the best possible. I apologize for not remembering his name. I was given a tour and then relaxed with some mint tea and cookies. The next day I met the day manager, Mohammed, who gave me his tips, advice and personally drawn map of how to not get lost going to and from the square (I finally got it right after about the 4th day!). The riad itself is impeccably maintained. I felt the quality was of a 4 star hotel but with a very homey feeling. The breakfast each day was outstanding. One night I was hungry and asked the night manager where I could get a Moroccan egg sandwich, a local delicacy. He literally gave me a ride on the back of his motorcycle through the Medina to get a sandwich! I later learned it is against the rules for riad workers to give guests rides on motorcycles. Obviously he put my happiness above a potential negative action against himself. But this is a common trait with Mar’rakshis. If you want to stay in the Medina, then you really can’t do better than Dar Hanane.
After a long day of traveling, we arrived at Dar Hanane and was greeted with mint tea (delicious) and by Mohamed who was amazing. We have traveled extensively and I can say that never had we been treated with such personalized attention as we had here. Mohamed sat down with us and took out
“THE” map he is so noted for. He showed us how to get to places and offered some do’s and don’ts. The Riad’s rooms were spacious, clean, the bed comfortable and a great shower. Bathroom amenities were included. We had dinner there the first night, which was Moroccan and delicious. We met the 2 women in the photo and continue to be friends. (Mohamed is also in the picture.) Breakfast was delightful, especially in the courtyard. We highly recommend Dar Hanane if you’re looking for a charming Riad with personalized service.
It was my first trip to Marrakech and we stayed in Dar Hanane for 3 nights.
We booked the Deluxe Suite and it was worth it!
The staff was helpful and kind regarding any concern we had.
We enjoyed our hotel starting from our first day to the last one.
(The terrace has a great view of the city and it is perfect for relaxing).
This place makes you feel like you are a local in Marrakech,
Definitely worth staying!
