How to Get There
From the moment we arrived we loved staying here! The staff were very welcoming, Anass had just started that day and was always helpful in suggestions of things to see and do around the area. The rooms are clean and large. It is in the Centre of Marrakesh and the markets are very close so never had to travel far. The breakfast was nice. All staff made you feel at home, the roof top terrace was perfect for relaxing and catching some sun. They made reservations for restaurants each night we asked. Would highly recommend staying here!
Padraig & Martin
I cannot even begin to describe the amazing experience we had at Dar Darma. The staff is so incredibly kind, attentive and thoughtful. The riad is beyond beautiful and if the Red or Blue Rooms are available, book them. The rooftop terraces are spectacular and a wonderful respite from the wild, crazy, chaos of the medina. The area is home to many locals and by the end of our stay we felt like we were home.
Maria and Hirsham could not have been kinder to us and the breakfasts, snacks and dinners were always a beautiful experience. I could not imagine staying anywhere else!
Thank you to everyone at Dar Darma for allowing to have the experience of a lifetime.
Marrakech is quite intense, and this riad is a haven of peace. The staff, the decor, the food, our room ..... everything was perfect. It’s very quiet, like a riad should be after spending hours outside in a busy medina. The staff made us feels like home, they were service minded to perfection, and at the same time chill and warm hearted. They even followed us to a restaurant nearby so that we didn’t get lost in the labyrint small streets of the medina. And one guy from the restaurant followed us back, no problem;) We had a wifi issue the first day (wifi and social media addicted as we are!), but it was fixed and the wifi was super strong all after. Our suite was clean and tidy and bed VERY comfortable. I slept like a queen! The bathroom warm and clean. The breakfast was very good and a lot of choices, we never finished it all, it was more than enough. We could ask for breakfast whenever we wanted, there is no particulier time for it. I always woke up an hour or two earlier than my friend, and then the night guard came with coffee and milk for me to our room, so I could wait for my friend in bed with fresh coffee and Instagram and Facebook, before heading together to the terrasse in the sun to have breakfast. I could easily get used to mornings like those at the riad! We had dinner one night at the hotel, they have fixed menues. Great food (I’m a food passionate, I can tell: this was goooood food) and in front of the fireplace with roses and candles everywhere. I read from some comments here on Tripadvisor that the riad is in a poor neighbourhood. It might be so, maybe, I don’t know. But this is Morocco, the land of contrasts! In the same neighbourhood as riad Dar Darma there are other luxury riads. Typical for a medina (medina means old town) is that there are different people living there, and behind some doors, you can’t even tell from the outside, there are wonderful and beautiful homes and riads behind them. Besides, the neighbourhood is safe, no need to worry. Poor doesn’t mean dangerous! Personnaly, I prefere to stay in a neighbourhood where people actually live, than f.ex next to the square Jemaa el Fnaa, which is over crowded by tourists 24/7. There are so many more things to tell about the staff and the riad, but just to shorten it: THE PERFECT STAY, and we will be back. Salaam!
We have just come back from one night stay in this riad in the heart of Marrakech.
The riad was fine, especially, with awesome mixed modern and traditional decoration. The rooms are simply beautiful. The entire riad is well decorated.
It is a very stylish place by a photo, but uncomfortable indeed. The service needs to be improved. The front desk person was often absent and online reservation system has some problem!! (We booked the blue apartment, but it showed the red apartment in the system.) Stayed in the red apartment and one of our bathrooms ran out of hot water so a bath was impossible. (The staff couldn’t help us solve the problem.)
One more thing, really really slow response. Getting a response from the hotel was nearly impossible before our trip!
Overall, the Riad Dar Darma is truly stunning but overpriced. Did not meet our expectations given the high price we paid.
Definitely overrated. Far from 5 star hotel. Service is terrible, despite staff nicely smiling. Rooms are freezing cold and really dirty. Everything is late (we have been waiting on breakfast for more than 20 minutes, despite ordering it for exact time, our car for airport has bene more than 30 minutes late….).
The worst thing is that they are dishonest. They lie and overcharged us. Firstly I made a booking via Booking months ago and tried to change it to offer I received directly from the hotel - 40% cheaper. Hotel staff, confirmed to me in writing, that they will sort the issue when we arrive to the hotel. Additionally, owner send me WhatsApp message that everything will be sorted when we arrive to the hotel. On the evening of arrival (around midnight), gentlemen at reception confirmed that we are getting large room as upgrade. At the time of checkout, they forgot on all promises and commitments and charged higher price. Basically they ripped us and charged more than 40% more than agreed via e-mail.
