How to Get There
This hotel is just beautiful. It’s a pleasure to get lost in the small corridors, stairs and many secret rooms and corners. The restaurant is very cozy with warming open fireplaces (food was amazing one time and really less then average another time).
The staff is also fantastic, smart, friendly and helpful. The breakfast area in the roof is a dream, you have a breathtaking view over the town and beach. I personally would prefer a bit more healthy breakfast but it’s the typical Moroccan hotels sweet breakfast with sweet yoghurt, bread, bread, bread, marmalade and some pastries. Why couldn’t they serve Argan oil and honey to it? The eggs and tomatoe salad makes up for it.
We had an amazing room with fantastic view and stayed for 4 nights, but remember it’s a 3 star hotel (for a price of 5). I would expect more power in the shower, a small water boiler would also be appriated. Overall it’s a great hotel with magical ambience and we would stay here again but in a cheaper room...
Our suite was spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, it was a fourth floor walk up through a labyrinth of corridors. It had neither AC or heating which was nor problem when we were there but could be in less benign weather. The staff was friendly and helpful and you needed the help to get around. Breakfast was the standard Moroccan offerings. Dinner was a set menu with several choices. The food went from below average to above average in about equal measures. WiFi was OK.
We stayed in this charming hotel in Aug 2019 with our 2 boys ages 10 and 13. We reserved two separate suites next to each other, and they were both wonderful. The location is unparalleled , its in the heart of old town and walking distance to everything. In general there is no A/C in any accommodations in Essaouira and Villa Maroc is no exception. Our rooms had an ocean view which allowed the ocean breeze to cool the room down. We were never hot even though we visited Essaouira in Aug. The breakfast is amazing, homemade hot meals plus fantastic coffee. The staff was fantastic, they helped us book many activities and recommend many great restaurants. We also visited the second property with the pool one day and that too was amazing, totally recommend visiting the second property, it has a lovely pool and the BEST lunch we had in Morocco. We ate at the villa one night for dinner and that too was amazing. Villa Maroc is also one of the few places in town that serves alcohol. In our travels in Morocco, we visited 4 cites and our stay at Villa Maroc and the beautiful town of Essaouria was the highlight of our entire trip to Morocco. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.
