How to Get There
We loved our time at Villa Maroc SO much! Our room was huge and just beautiful!! We ate dinner here both nights, and I may have had I been here for a week. It is the most lovely, intimate, beautiful, candlelit setting with incredible food. They were also so helpful with directions and suggestions. I want to give a HUGE shout out and thank you to Aayachi (sp?) - we had to leave at 7am and he set up a candlelit breakfast for us that was just wonderful. Then when our car did not show up to take us the 2.5 hours to the Marrakech airport, he literally ran around for us (to the square to look for the car, I think ask other taxis), and then made phone calls until he found someone to take us to the airport. He was amazing, worked so hard for us, and we were SO thankful! This hotel is a gem!! And the rooftop is a place where you could sit and look out at the ocean for hours!
The Villa Maroc scores for all aspects: it is full of character and beautifully furnished, the
bedroom was quiet and comfortable, the terrace has great views and lots of places to sit in sun or shade, breakfast on the terrace was delicious, there are quiet corners to sit inside, the staff are all friendly and welcoming. There is no pool, but the beach is close and you can go up to the Jardin in the country and spend the day at the pool there.
The location of Villa Maroc is excellent - close to everything & while I liked the hotel there were a few issues that spoiled it for us.We were given rooms 27 & 28. We were 3 friends travelling & the 2 rooms were joined by a little private lounge which was lovely. However, the one room although spacious & very comfortable was dark with no window & the lights had to be on all the time. The decor of the hotel is light & lovely so this was a disappointment. The lounge had no ceiling, almost like a Moroccan inner courtyard with 2 floors above it. On our first evening when we got back from dinner & we sat in the lounge & chatted, not making a noise & we were rudely told by a man above us to be quiet as they were trying to sleep. This was at 21h30 at night! After that we were nervous to sit in the lounge in case we disturbed the people above us. However, on our last night we were woken at 02h00 in the morning by rowdy people coming back from a night on the town & in the morning we were woken up by staff chatting in a laundry/kitchen opposite our lounge window! We had dinner in the hotel on our first evening & they gave us a beautiful private little dining room. The dinner was superb & beautifully served. Breakfasts in the mornings were served on the rooftop terrace with beautiful view overlooking the harbour. The day we checked out we had to leave by 06h00 to get to the airport in Casablanca. We had paid for breakfast but asked just to have coffee before we left. This we "organised" twice the day before. We also asked if there would be someone to help with the luggage as Villa Maroc has a lot of stairs. We never got the coffee & I had to go & look for the night staff to again ask for assistance with the luggage. What a lovely establishment. Such a pity they cannot fine tune the finer details!
