The Lowdown

There’s another spectacular city by the bay, just across the Golden
Gate. San Francisco’s neighbor to the north is home to breathtaking
views, noteworthy dining and California-cool sophistication, and Acqua
Hotel is the perfect place to appreciate these incredible surroundings.
Situated
in Mill Valley, beside the tranquil Richardson Bay, the property is a
contemporary oasis, brimming with serene comforts and exceptional
service, which have earned it plenty of ardent reviews and a TripAdvisor
Certificate of Excellence. Inspired by the local land, sea and sky, the
hotel combines soft blues and greens to zen-like effect, with a modern
spiral staircase that leads down to a peaceful waterfront.
The
Marin County locale boasts a wide range of exciting sights and
diversions to discover, too; home to the impressive Mount Tamalpais, the
Point Reyes National Seashore, Muir Woods and a host of Pacific vistas
to the west, the area is a wanderer’s delight. It’s also a foodie
paradise, with leading wineries or restaurants north, south and east –
so after you drink it all in, it’s time to eat.

We’re on a cross country road trip with our dog and splurged a little on this hotel. It was sooo worth it. The hotel is beautiful. The room was beautiful. They offer a great happy hour and we met some great people. The beds were super comfortable and I did not want to get up. Breakfast also fabulous with all kinds of fresh items. We loved it here and would definitely recommend this place. It’s well worth the price.

Fantastic

Booked an overnight at Acqua earlier this month when I flew in to pick up a car I purchased. The location is fantastic - right on the water and close proximity to Sausalito, Muir Woods, The Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. We got in late and were upgraded to a beautiful suite that overlooked the little inlet from the bay. Service was phenomenal, bed was comfortable and the suite had a luxurious spa bath. Complimentary breakfast is provided and I can say bar none, this was the best included breakfast I've had at any hotel. Buffet stay - everything you could want and delicious to boot. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and hope I have an excuse to go back soon!

Charming boutique hotel with great service. Good location, easy to access. Nice people. Good breakfast included. You are right on an estuary from the Bay so nice views and a good walking path runs right off the water viewing rooms.

Kind, Professional Staff and Comfortable Rooms

When all Mill Valley area hotels were booked, Acqua Hotel worked to accommodate our stay. The rooms are nice with bathtubs (somewhat of a rarity in CA hotels, it seems), some have fireplaces and nearly all have a wonderful view. I took one star off because there were some inconsistencies (we had to switch rooms daily because the hotel was booked and we made a last minute reservation, which gave us the opportunity to stay in three different room types). The inconsistencies were things like - one room was missing bar soap and bath salt, another room had someone else's towel hanging on the disability bar when we arrived but otherwise seemed clean, etc. The hotel breakfast is quite nice, with a variety of options that everyone from carnivores to vegans would be pleased with. There is a daily wine reception and the wine quality and variety is good. The best thing about Acqua Hotel is the access it provides to Mill Valley and beyond - it is minutes away from Muir Woods, Muir Beach, Mt. Tam, Stinson Beach, etc.
