There’s another spectacular city by the bay, just across the Golden
Gate. San Francisco’s neighbor to the north is home to breathtaking
views, noteworthy dining and California-cool sophistication, and Acqua
Hotel is the perfect place to appreciate these incredible surroundings.
in Mill Valley, beside the tranquil Richardson Bay, the property is a
contemporary oasis, brimming with serene comforts and exceptional
service, which have earned it plenty of ardent reviews and a TripAdvisor
Certificate of Excellence. Inspired by the local land, sea and sky, the
hotel combines soft blues and greens to zen-like effect, with a modern
spiral staircase that leads down to a peaceful waterfront.
Marin County locale boasts a wide range of exciting sights and
diversions to discover, too; home to the impressive Mount Tamalpais, the
Point Reyes National Seashore, Muir Woods and a host of Pacific vistas
to the west, the area is a wanderer’s delight. It’s also a foodie
paradise, with leading wineries or restaurants north, south and east –
so after you drink it all in, it’s time to eat.

change up your abode as you wish. The Deluxe Queen room is a cozy 150
square-foot option with a queen bed, located at the north or south end
of the hotel; the Deluxe Queen Queen and Deluxe King are also located in
this area and each measure in at 215 square feet. For a roomier
floor plan, opt for the Junior Suite Water View, a luxurious
300-square-foot space with a separate living area, king bed and
floor-to-ceiling windows, offering impressive panoramic views of Mt.
Tamalpais and Richardson Bay. These also get an iPod docking station
with alarm clock and a soaking tub, along with a shower.

gorgeous Marin County. The hotel is easily accessible off Highway 101,
which runs north directly through Sonoma Wine Country, and there’s no
shortage of things to do and places to explore. Borrow the hotel’s
bicycles and check out the bayside trail, or visit nearby Muir Woods and
Mount Tamalpais (Mount Tam, to the locals), which is especially magical
at sunrise and sunset.California is home to some of the world’s
best restaurants, and many of these are also easily accessible from
Mill Valley. Sonoma and Napa to the north, San Francisco to the south
and the stunning Pacific coast to the west place Marin in the heart of a
culinary playground.

Beware things are not always what they seem
Reviewed 2 days ago

I arrived exhausted after traveling across country only to be served by a staff member who seemed more concerned about the couple behind me, than checking me in. I came to the Acqua Hotel for a Retreat but this was no treat from the beginning. Our group had 14 blocked rooms and I was promised a room. For a retreat I was expecting to relax when I got here, no such luck.

Instead when I got to the hotel there was an elderly couple demanding a nice room with a water view and the manager Judy, came out to assist. She seemed very accommodating to them, however when I complained about getting a small room literally in the dining room she was indignant and rude saying “this is a standard room,” at $240 when the junior suite was $260 seemed wrong. She acted like I should be happy with a room in the dining room that was small, unattractive with high chairs lining the entryway, facing a public space with a window that cannot be opened.

She then proceeded in a robotic manner, to tell me she is “happy” to find me a room elsewhere at the Holiday Inn Express and other hotels, when my event was at the Acqua. There was no apology or acknowledgement that this was not a nice room. There was no kindness.

Judy G was not as accommodating to me as she had been to the elderly couple ahead of me, and although I have no proof, I suspect she gave them the last room in our group block and gave me the “maids” room. I call it the “maids room” because it is in the dining room. In order to get to the room you enter the dining room.

Last night there was noise till 11pm and this morning I woke at 6:24am as staff was getting ready for breakfast. At 7 there will be crowds of people talking and dishes clanging. So much for sleeping in.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Genevieve I have to give 5 stars to, because she was the most pleasant, accommodating, kind and honest of all the staff I met. Had my first encounter with staff been honest, “sorry but this is not our best room, it is in the dining room” I might have been prepared for the shock of it! It was a terrible room for two out of three nights I stayed there. When I asked if the room had a water view I was told “it kinda has a water view.” Not an honest depiction at all! It was nothing short of terrible, in terms of view and location. Genevieve took my suggestions of removing the high chairs and putting a plant or flowers in the room so that helped some. She is a gem and without her this place would suffer.

(I over heard someone canceling their reservation while in the lobby on day 1, so for one of the three nights I stayed in a junior suite for $290. Honestly, the furniture was worn and tattered and there was obvious wear and tear but the view made up for it. I would give that room 3.5 stars)

As far as hotels go, this one is average. I dealt with the maids quarters only to remain near my event but there should have been some compensation for the very poor accommodations. A better room rate might have eased the inability to sleep in and the location. I was tremendously disappointed overall.

We’re on a cross country road trip with our dog and splurged a little on this hotel. It was sooo worth it. The hotel is beautiful. The room was beautiful. They offer a great happy hour and we met some great people. The beds were super comfortable and I did not want to get up. Breakfast also fabulous with all kinds of fresh items. We loved it here and would definitely recommend this place. It’s well worth the price.

Booked an overnight at Acqua earlier this month when I flew in to pick up a car I purchased. The location is fantastic - right on the water and close proximity to Sausalito, Muir Woods, The Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. We got in late and were upgraded to a beautiful suite that overlooked the little inlet from the bay. Service was phenomenal, bed was comfortable and the suite had a luxurious spa bath. Complimentary breakfast is provided and I can say bar none, this was the best included breakfast I've had at any hotel. Buffet stay - everything you could want and delicious to boot. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and hope I have an excuse to go back soon!
