How to Get There
A top facility with great service. Excellent rooms and amazing grounds. Close to all venues and sights in the Margaret River area and we used this accommodation as our base for a week in April 2018. Dining room open for breakfast and dinner which we used on a number of the days. Great bar-b-q area.
Basildene Manor lies Southwest of the town of Margaret River. It is an old Manor House now turned into a Hotel. The grounds are large, lush and meticulously maintained.
Outside is a magnificent Giant Oak tree the seed of which is allegedly from the Buckingham palace gardens planted in the late 1800's.
The rooms are quaint , comfortable and stylish. We has a private courtyard on the ground floor. The breakfasts are in a lovely sun room and the spread is just delightful.
The library with its fireplace is charming.
It would be hard to beat this fabulous venue for a Margaret River getaway and it comes highly recommended
Absolutely perfect. This is an old manor house type property with some newer additions. It has 19 rooms and the one caveat is make sure you know what you are booking. We booked using an online agency and it was unclear how small the room was. Once we were there the manager showed us the different room types and we now know what to ask for.
The personnel are helpful, cheerful and accommodating. We asked for feather pillows. They were out of them so they went out and bought more. We arrived hungry and they rustled up something for us to eat. The morning breakfast is the best we have ever had, anywhere. Basically a fruit and bread buffet and then whatever your heart desires cooked to order. There is an afternoon tea with freshly baked cakes and scones. The restaurant is not open for dinner. They prepare a "to go bag" for your departure with scones and jam - better than any of the Australian roadside diners on route to one's next stop.
The location is superb with easy access to the town of Margaret River and the wineries. The rooms are immaculately clean and well maintained. We did not have to ask for anything to be repaired, which is unusual for us.
The bed was comfortable and the linens were changed daily.
It has a swimming pool and tennis courts. The gardens are magnificent and can be seen from some of the rooms.
We have just returned from our stay at this beautiful historic homestead. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautifully appointed. We had the continental breakfast which included fruit compotes, toast, cerials and yoghurt. Tea and coffee are available all day and afternoon tea provided. There are bbq facilities and you can ask for a pack to use which includes oil etc. But the most outstanding thing for me is the gardens.
