How to Get There
The Basildene Manor is an old restored building from earlier this century. It is a magnificent building set in beautiful landscaped gardens approx 2km from the CBD.
Although promoted as a hotel, it is not. It lacks many of the facilities of a 4or 5 star hotel yet it is priced higher than most 5 star Perth hotels. It has no restaurant, no bar or other place to get a drink. There is no mini bar in your room. No wifi except in public areas.
We found the rooms noisy as it is a 2 storey building and with wood floors we could people walking around on the floor above us.
I guess I have listed all the negatives, everything else is positive and other reviews adequately explain that so no point in restating that.
This is an expensive option in MR. There are better value for money options in town.
Always lovely to stay here, staff a friendly and accomodating, therooms are clean and the surroundings are tranquil. It only loses a star because there is no restaurant and only breakfast is available, which by the way is always great and alacart.
Great relaxing place to stay. Has a beautiful history that the staff are happy to share with you. Great facilities. Its adults only. Old world and nostalgic. Staff happy to help and advise with anything.
We came down from Perth and stayed overnight for the Leeuwin concert. We received a warm, personable greeting on arrival from someone who showed us through the manor house, gave us a talk about its history and walked us to our room. The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The staff were really accommodating with our bikes and gave us a convenient location to lock them up. Breakfast was excellent! The buffet included delicious treats like poached pears, local jams and yoghurts and good Nespresso coffee. We ordered Eggs Benedict, which was expertly prepared with delicious locally smoked ham. Check out was easy and featured a thoughtful (and delicious) parting gift. We will DEFINITELY be back for future short breaks and highly recommend this place to any travellers.
Our four night stay at Basildene Manor was fabulous! This is a beautiful hotel in all respects. The 1912 built manor house is charming, and renovations to modernise are sympathetic as lovely period details have been retained including the sitting room fireplaces and stunning Jarrah wood staircase. Our room was spacious and characterful, immaculately presented, with a wonderfully comfortable king bed and perfect pillows.
Every member of staff brings a personal touch to service and all go out of their way at every turn. Special mentions must go to Daniela, Maxxx (!) and Grace for their recommendations, ready smiles, and genuine desire to make our stay special. It was!
Breakfasts were excellent and everything offered is locally produced. There can be no better way to start the day than sitting in the conservatory overlooking the gardens. And oh, the gardens! Fourteen acres of bouncy lawns, trees, glorious flower beds and a pretty lake featuring a central fountain. We walked the length and breadth more than once.
The location can’t be faulted, either. It’s an easy drive (or perhaps twenty minute walk, which we didn’t do as it was HOT) into Margaret River township. We loved the Farmers Market on the Saturday and could have spent a fortune if we lived locally. Great wineries are in abundance of course and we certainly enjoyed our time in a few…
Treat yourself if you’re heading to Margaret River. You won’t do better!
