Striking new hotel in Manchester's emerging cultural quarter, with contemporary interiors and a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant
A short walk from Deansgate or St Peter’s Square, the INNSIDE Manchester is a striking modern addition to England's second city. The hotel lies just beyond the canals and railway arches that played an important role in Manchester's industrial past, but it's slap bang in the middle of the city's up-and-coming cultural quarter, First Street. The angular 11-story building is painted red in homage to Manchester's red brick landmarks, and the contemporary lobby features mammoth floor-to-ceiling windows, concrete pillars, stone floors and a glass-paneled stairway.
Bed and Bath
The clutter-free rooms all feature kingsize beds, flat-screen TVs, adjustable lighting, blackout blinds and such perks as free soft drinks from the minibar and free WiFi. The largely monochromatic color scheme is broken up by plum-colored feature walls and etchings of Manchester’s skyline on the headboards. All feature semi-open-plan bathrooms with frosted glass rainfall showers. Opt for a spacious suite (549 square feet) for a separate lounge area, a quality coffee machine, robes and slippers, and tons of storage space.
Street on First is a bright and airy restaurant (with an alfresco terrace) that serves small plates based on the Spanish tradition of sharing. The "food for a social mood" menu concept is built on the idea there will always be enough contemporary cuisine on offer to match your frame of mind, so expect a hodgepodge of dishes including shiitake mushroom skewers, whitebait, duck broth and pork wontons, and seafood paella. Local DJs provide the tunes (even at breakfast on Thursdays and Fridays), and the bar serves bottled beers from Mancunian microbrewery Tweed.
In the Area
The hotel sits in an area that is building a reputation as the city's vibrant entertainment quarter. The centerpiece is HOME, a newly opened cinema, theater, bar and arts destination that offers a great selection of food, beers and outdoor seating spaces. Beyond First Street, Manchester's historic destinations, such as Albert Square, the shopping areas along Market Street, the thriving nightspots around Spinningfields, and such sporting hot spots as Old Trafford, the City of Manchester Stadium and the National Football Museum, are all within easy reach.
