Although the resort takes up seven acres of beachfront, it's a narrow stretch with a sharp drop-off and breaking waves close to shore — great for surfers, not so much for bathers
Popular for weddings
The downtown Lake Worth scene is a causeway — and a cab ride — away

Mediterranean Revival mansion with a destination spa, elegant guestrooms and plenty of Palm Beach panache
A tasteful Mediterranean Revival mansion with plenty of Palm Beach panache. The ultra-high-ceilinged, marble-floored lobby is kitted out like an elegant living room: floral loveseats, overstuffed chairs and striking lamps atop end tables. And at the back, floor-to-ceiling glass gives way to the Stir Terrace & Bar (great for happy hour) and the pool. Jewelry and clothing boutiques front the Eau Spa, which features an enclosed garden, huge urns holding lime trees, a giant chessboard, hanging hammocks and innumerable water features that patrons are encouraged to splash around in. The public areas are regularly patrolled by service staff supplying sparkling wine and cupcakes.
Bed and Bath
Refined guestrooms are filled with walnut furniture, chaise lounges, throw pillows and floor-to-ceiling drapes in caramel, camel, green and Victorian-inspired floral patterns. On the beach side of the building, sliding doors lead to surprisingly long balconies with ocean views. The bathrooms are truly remarkable: Multi-faucet sinks run the length of the mirror, the glass-enclosed shower’s embedded heads cleanse you from above and the sides, and gigantic freestanding bathtubs are ideal for couples. Red Flower products, organic and soothing, up the relaxation factor.
Food is a focal point. The intimate restaurants — Angle, which has decor with medieval flair, and the larger Temple Orange, which has a chic European aesthetic — offer globally oriented farm-to-table fare, with produce like butter lettuce and Brussels sprouts from nearby Swank Farms. Still, the menus don’t shy away from imported luxury items (caviar, cheese, game) or fancy techniques (emulsions, infusions, gelées). Lunch at the Stir Bar & Terrace and at Breeze (located right on the seawall) features lighter options from the dinner menus; breakfast is a lavish buffet. Cocktails in the lobby lounge are an elegant precursor to an evening out, especially when Sushi Jo is in the house rolling his finest concoctions. The Zen-centric facilities at the Eau Spa (pool cabanas, sensory treatment rooms, a scrub and polish bar) make it a destination in its own right. Treatments meld ancient methods with up-to-the-minute technologies. Exercising is also an extreme pleasure here, with two pools and beach access for swimming, snorkeling, sailing and parasailing. In addition, bicycle rentals, basketball, volleyball, tennis and yoga are all available (as well as the Aquanuts underwater-themed club for children, and Camp Coast for teens).
In the Area
The downtown Lake Worth scene, a causeway trip away, is less luxe and more organic, with live music clubs, a lively arts scene and livelier locals frequenting the bars (Propaganda plays host to indie bands). For a vibe similar to Eau, head to Palm Beach’s famous Worth Avenue, where Saks Fifth Avenue anchors all manner of designer boutiques, including Cartier, Chanel and Gucci. For a blend of the two scenes, hit Clematis Street. Located in downtown West Palm Beach, this hipster neighborhood offers all manner of diversions, including dinner at the rocking Mexican restaurant Rocco’s Tacos. Nearby, and as titillating for kids as for their parents, CityPlace presents more than 100 shopping, dining and entertainment options. During the day families should check out Phipps Ocean Park, which has a renowned tennis center and the Palm Beach Zoo. A little farther afield, Lion Country Safari is the state’s only drive-through adventure.
